On Nov. 8 I had 21 teeth removed an immediate dentures put in at Sexton Dental Clinic in Florence, SC. I got home and the lowers were intolerable. I was unable to travel from Florida to South Carolina so I had a NEW lower made by the Florida Denture Clinic West in Hudson, Fl. On November 27 at a cost of $385.00.
On Christmas Day before dinner they broke when I took them out to apply Benzodent as even after two adjustments they HURT, they broke in half. I made an appointment to have them repaired and went to the clinic on Monday December 30. (without looking it up it might have been Tuesday December 31. I was told they can NOT be repaired and I now need to pay for yet another lower plate. I do feel that a plate should last over ONE month.
As we were leaving the clinic another woman approached our car and asked me if I was happy with this clinic! I explained what had just happened and she told me that the same thing just happened to her 90 year old husband. His lower denture was made the middle of October so it was a little older than mine, but had already been repaired once and this time they told her the same thing they told me that it could NOT be repaired and that he needed another one.
They said if I had a metal one this would not have happened but they did not tell me that when I had it made. They also told the other lady the same thing.
Well to make the story even better yet another woman approached us in our car so now there are three of us! She had a lower denture made at a denture clinic in Brooksville owned by the same dentist. The Brooksville clinic had been closed down by the state and she needed an adjustment. She was told that they (Florida Denture Clinic West) did not do any work on dentures made in another clinic. She was upset as BOTH clinics are owned by the same dentist. The dentist name affiliated with BOTH clinics is Dr. J.W. Davison. The last I heard is that this Brooksville clinic is still closed.
I have contacted the state about the Hudson clinic as I was NEVER seen by a dentist there. There are two women running everything. I had bee in there for a total of about 6 times and on two occasions I did see a man that I will assume to be the dentist. Seems to me that the girls are practicing dentistry without a license. The other lady told me that her husband had not been seen by a dentist either. She has also filed a complaint with the state.
I wonder how many other people have had this happen since there were tow of us the same day with the same problem.
Please save your money and stay away from these clinics as they are rip-off. No one can afford to have a new denture made every month because they were poorly made.
I will be going back to the Sexton Clinic in the spring for new dentures as they are affordable. The only problem is needing adjustments and living so far away. We will plan on staying longer so if I need adjustments I will get them there.
