My Choice Medical, Or "Drs. Say Yes", Dr. Roy Kim, Rabia Khan, deposit of $999. To money-hungry, "My Choice Medical", Dr. Roy Kim refuses to oper. And "MCM" doesn't answer 4wks of calls

I'm filing a complaint against, Dr. Roy Kim, surgeon affiliated with "My Choice Medical", and Rabia Khan, also with "My Choice Medical".

Three month ago, I received an email from My Choice Medical, or "Drs Say Yes", advertising Plastic Surgery at an affordable price, mainly for people with poor credit. The ad noted you could get surgery for a mere $99. Down with low monthly pmts. Since I've been thinking about plastic surgery, or liposuction for many, many months, and do have poor credit, I filled out a form in the email for them to call me.

They called within minutes of filling out that form. I explained what I wanted and she said they would have to check my credit. She ran my SS number and said that because of my credit score, I would have to put $499. Down. I agreed to it and gave her my number. She informed me they would be calling back with the name of a plastic surgeon in San Francisco. Well they were sure quick with that response as well, for I received a call the next day with the name of a surgeon that would perform my surgery, Dr. Roy Kim. At this point, I was really excited that I was finally going to get this done.

On Oct. 22, at 3:30, I went to my consultation with Dr. Kim. My first impression that I had with him was that he was a very serious person (which is fine), and he had no discernable sense of humor. The visit went well, I filled out a lot of forms and told Dr. Kim what I had in mind. Dr. Kim explained some of the surgery details, then, he sent in a representative from "My Choice Medical", with the contract. She had me initial a lot of pages, yet didn't explain them, they were, "just routine". Little did I know that I initialed a clause somewhere at the end stating I wouldn't get a refund, no matter what. I then gave them another deposit of $500.

On my way out, the office handed me a pamphlet with info on lipo, a survey to take online regarding lipo, and a form stating I had to get a physical, blood work, and an EKG. This was all to be faxed to them when I completed it.in addition, I had to purchase a $147. Garment worn after lipo.

That night at home, I decided to do a little checking on "My Choice Medical". Somehow, I found a link that led me to, "usacomplaints.com. I read, to my horror, a complaint by Deborah. Afterwards, I was a bit worried, but assured myself that was just one person's story. (little did I know there were others.)

On Nov. 7, I had my pre-op appt. With Dr. Kim. He asked me if I had any questions, took pictures of me, and gave me a presciption to be filled for pain. When the session was almost over, I said, "I DO have something that I forgot to tell you... I forget to write down another medication that I take, it's Methadone. Immediately, his whole demeanor changed. After a few seconds, I said, "is that going to be a problem or something... I've had other surgeries while taking it?". He said, "yes, that IS a problem". He then took the prescription, and ripped it up. He got-up and told me my surgery would either be cancelled or postponed and he needed to talk to the office manager. When he left the room, I was in tears.

I felt he was being predjudice even though I don't take Methadone because of past intravenous use, but for pain, had other surgeries while on Methadone, and had lipo on my arms 6 months ago by a renowned plastic surgeon in San Francisco, Dr. Scot Mosser, while on Methadone.

Next, after approx. 5 minutes, his office manager walked in and sat down. She said, "we have to cancel your surgery". I said that I just couldn't understand it because it's never been a problem for me before. I even had reconstruction on my nose after breaking it and it wasn't a problem then, either. She replied, "well, yeah... Dr. Kim just doesn't feel comfortable operating on you." She even went on to say that they would lose money because of the scheduled operating room procedure that was now to be cancelled. I sat there and was numb, and she motioned me with her arm to leave.

Now, comes the fun part... The next day, I called "My Choice Medical", and told them what happened. I was transferred to a rep. Named, Rabia Khan, apparantely assigned to my case and apparantely not aware of what had transpired. She let me know, kindly, that they would find a new plastic surgeon in San Fran. To operate on me. Because, of course, they have hundreds of doctors, right? After that conversation I was rest assured everything would be OK, and my deposit would be transferred. That was Nov 8th.

Nov 9, when I went to my clinic, I decided to get information regarding surgery and Methadone, and whether there was a risk. When I asked the physician in charge, his words were: "that is stupid; that is rediculous; what kind of Dr. Did you say he is?" He went on to tell me he knows of patients with pacemakers while on Methadone. He advised me to take them to small claims court because, what do I have to lose, huh?

On Nov. 12th thru Nov. 16th, I called Rabia Khan and left messages to please call me back. On Nov 16th, I called "My Choice Medical", and asked to speak to a supervisor. The operator wanted to know what it was about, and I told her, "please connect me with a supervisor". What did she do? She connected me with Rabia Khan. Rabia finally picked up, no doubt because I had asked to speak to her supervisor. I asked, "Rabia, why haven't you returned my calls?" She angrily retorted, "I TOLD you, Vivica, that I would call when I found a Doctor, and I haven't found one for you, and I have two other people working on it with me". I asked, "how many doctors have you called"? She said, "3". I asked, "how many doctors do you have in your bank of doctors"? She said "hundreds".

So, it is now, Dec 9th., one month after my initial visit with Dr. Kim. I have repeatedly called, "My choice Medical", so many times, I can't count it. I've asked for a supervisor three times, and was actually transferred to one... But only to leave a msg. That also has not been returned. And one time, a week ago, I got a call from a "Nicole" asking to return her call. I actually got excited something was going to finally happen. But no returned call, but I've called her three times.

The last msg I sent her was an emotional voicemail with my voice quivering. I told her she had two days to call me, and if she does not call me in two days, I would report her to "complaint", and The Better Business Bureau.

Now I feel better because I finally don't feel alone in this; it's happend to other woman. Thank you for giving me that outlet.
