Christopher K. Riley Christopher K. Riley, Exquisite Dentistry, West Palm Beach Florida Dentist West Palm Beach, Florida Dentist Dr. Christopher K. Riley (aka Dr. Dishonest)... Prospective patients (and job seekers) BEWARE of this shady Dentist!

Dr. Christopher Riley of Exquisite Dentistry in West Palm Beach, Florida recently called my wife in for an interview to run the front desk in his [fairly new] dental practice. She was informed that he would consider her application/resume over the weekend and, if he were interested, she would hear back from him soon. He called the weekend of her interview to have her come in on a Monday for a working interview. All went well (at least apparently) as she was offered the position on Monday afternoon, which she accepted. She was told to report to work the following day.

My wife reports to work the following day thinking that she has a job. However, it turns out that Dr. Riley's assistant had quit and thus my wife was informed by Riley that she would no longer be working the front desk but would rather be his dental assistant. She wasnt too happy about this, however she wanted the job so she said okay (she is a trained dental assistant). At the end of the day though, Riley informed my wife that they would just consider the day part of the working interview and he would mail her a check for her two days in the office! (He now denies that he ever offered her a job to begin with despite the fact that she filled out tax forms, received her employment handbook, and was told to report for duty! So not only is he underhanded, he is insulting my wife's intelligence insinuating that she can't comprehend English such as to be able to understand what a job offer actually is!

I'm not going to dwell much on the fact that this man offered my wife a job and then withdrew it the following day from nowhere. While I believe it to be lowdown and an unprofessional act on his part, in the state of Florida (an at will state) he does have that right so no point in arguing with this. I do think that this clearly shows a flaw in character that potential patients (and future job applicants) might want to be weary of.

What angers me about this man is the fact that he had no intent of paying my wife when he told her that he would forward her a check for her work to begin with (another demonstration of his characteror lack thereof rather). When on payday my wife did not receive her check, she called him to inquire as to when she would receive it. She had to call Riley for a week before he even responded stating that he would get it into the mail ASAP. He did do at least this much.

Upon receiving her check, however, my wife found that it was but HALF of what it should have been. Enclosed with the check was a note from Dr. Riley stating that, since her work in the office was limited for those two days, he was giving her what he thought a fair amount. Apparently, fair to Dr. Riley is not what is actually promised her when she set foot in the office! He gave her an hourly wage PERIOD! Whether or not he hired her or the whole two days were a working interview (he did hire her), she was expecting to be compensated for her work (as would anyone else) at the agreed upon hourly wage. My wife would in no wise have accepted the position or even a working interview for that matter at the rate she received.

My wife contacted him about the insufficient pay amount as well, at which point he started his I never hired you defense and as such what I gave you was a gift and you are lucky to have received that much. He wasn't man enough to even finish the discussion with my wife, choosing instead to hang up on her. I tried to call as well but I could never reach him. So, I sent him an email telling him that I was going to post this account on this particular website among others, tell everyone about his underhandedness, report him to the BBB and the labor and wage board, etc.

His response to the above? He told me that I was engaged in criminal activity and if I were to pursue this any further he would sue me for all sorts of charges! He even said that he was obtaining a restraining order against the two of us! I don't understand this one as no threats or harassment occurred (perhaps he screwed someone in the past and they took more drastic action and he is scared of that happening again?)

I for damn sure don't appreciate being called a criminal for standing up for my wife and our rights. My record is blemish free. So how am I engaged in criminal activity by simply telling our side of the story (the TRUTH) dear Dr. Riley?

Dr. Riley also informed me that I was making a big deal over a significant amount of money. It isn't about the money dr. Riley It is about people like ME getting sick and tired of people like YOU getting away with the crap that you do. You may be a bully (I've seen you try to be with my wife and then by threatening me oh, did I mention that your own hygienist and dental assistant told my wife that she needed to be careful with you lest you run over her?) and you may have gotten away with loads before but I'm NOT susceptible to the fear tactics of bullies.

Here is what it boils down to: Dr. Riley is an unprincipled and unethical man. He attempted to bully my wife (as he has apparently done to others) by thinking that, as she is just a 21 year-old young woman who recently relocated from Alabama of all places, he could get away with pulling the wool over her simple little eyes. Well, first of all my wife is far from simple. Second of all, her husband (that would be me) is a 31 year-old man, not a kid, with likely as much or more education as dear Dr. Riley and I for damn sure will not be scared into not standing up for my wife and her rights by the likes of this individual!

In any case, I've said my peace. So please potential patients of this man (and potential employees), avoid this man's office. If he is unethical in one manner it is highly likely that he is in others as well. A man's actions show what is in his heart. Besides, there are too many good dentists in West Palm Beach to take a chance with this one. Please avoid Dr. Christopher K. Riley.

And Dr. Riley, you could have avoided this whole mess by simply paying my wife the other half of what you owed her (that which you essentially robbed from her). You said yourself that it was such a meager amount, why all the fuss? I any case, I know that you will never pay what you owe. But I will not roll over and let you get away with it. Thus, as I said before, I will tell EVERYONE I can about you and will do so in EVERY WAY that I can. This is MY RIGHT as well as my righteous testimony on the matter. Sue me for telling the truth Dr. Riley.

Thanks usacomplaints.com for being a venue for the consumer to voice his complaint against such people/companies.

To follow, I have cut and pasted some of Dr. Riley's comments in an email to me. Most of the email (edited out) consists of about 2 pages worth of argument whereby he states that he never offered my wife a job to begin with. Several things worthy of mention Number 1: When you have to argue to that level, chances are you are lying. The truth is most often quite simple. Number 2: I've already stated (to Riley and here on this forum) that I could care less about the job. Working interview or full-time job offer, he quoted my wife and hourly rate of pay or she would not have been there the following dayPERIOD. I only wanted my wife be compensated for her time at the rate quoted on the first day in the office.

Now, it seems as though these unilateral misunderstandings by Kelli
Huey are escalating ever so quickly into a full-blown fued, and for what,
a few extra bucks barely worth a tank of gasoline? IS THIS FOR REAL???
I opened my practice to her, and I gave her some interviews, I gave
her a chance, and this is the thanks I get??? NO THANKS!!! And, now, to
top it ALL off, your actions & written intentions against me at this
point are becoming distinctly criminal...

I've already made a copy of your e-mail, as well as your voicemail (s), and I've already issued them to my attorney for legal representation in a criminal & civil lawsuit against both of you should any of your
warrantless actions against me continue. If this continues, my attorney and I are prepared to cite criminal infractions based on, but not limited
to, criminal conspiracy, extorsion, internet fraud, assault, and reckless endangerment of me, my patients, and my staff. On the civil infractions, my attorney and I are prepared to cite defamation of character,
financial damages, suffering/anguish, professional hardship, personal hardship, and any personal and/or legal costs that may result from punishing your criminal actions. Then I'm constantly informing both of your current & future empolyer (s) from here on out of any of your criminal actions and convictions against me, (or anyone else for that matter), however far you may go, or how ever long it may be. If this goes the
distance by your force, and if my survival is ever threatened by your criminal actions, you'll have some kind of fight on your hands that you won't believe! Trust me, I have every bit of ample fortitude & resolve to accomplish any primary mission I set my mind to, straight-up... in this case I'd do it simply out of the sheer honorable motive of pure principle in the name of legal retribution and presentable evidence... And I can guarantee both of you, you will be there to witness that...

Again, my apologies for your misunderstandings, as well as sending Kelli Huey's generous "gift" a few days late... Since I've already filed a
motion for a restraining order against both of you, this will be my last attempt to contact either of you outside of a courtroom, or at least until a potential judgement & sentencing is passed against you...

Sincerely,
Christopher K. Riley, DDS
