New Me Institute, Dr. Shane Sheibani
Liposuction, Plastic Surgery, Shane Sheibani, Beverly Hills, New Me Institute, Breast Augmentation, Tummy Tuck, Cosmetic Surgery

FYI, this occured about 2 years ago, but I decided to write this after I saw a HUGE ad from Dr. Shane Sheibani basically saying "I've fixed so many cosmetic surgery errors" and "Come to me to get your cosmetic surgery done right the first time"

Please please please do NOT go to this guy!!! Avoid him at all costs! Here's the story:

So I got approved to have a cosmetic surgery loan about 3 years ago..

After researching several physicians, I came across an ad in L.A. Weekly for the "New Me Institute" with 2 office locations in both L.A. And Beverly Hills. I didn't know anything or anybody who had cosmetic surgery before so I called Dr. Shane Sheibani's office (the New Me Institute) for a consultation. When I went in, Dr. Sheibani told me that he could do liposuction in 6 areas for only about 4 grand! I was impressed. He also outlined the areas that he would do. So we went to his office and he drew up the contract. I thought there might have been something fishy about it when he practically tried to force me to sign a contact saying that I would come back for a tummy tuck and that he would be my only cosmetic surgery physician for the next 3 years. I didn't think anything of it at the time. I ended up signing about 10 pages worth of agreements and waivers.

The day of my surgery, I went in and had the procedure done in 3 hours. The Anesthesiologist must have lost track of the "knock out" medicine he gave me because I woke up in the middle of the procedure! They had to increase the anesthesia.By the time I woke up, I was in the recovery room. Dr. Sheibani was no where to be found. About 2 minutes later, some woman came into the room and asked me to sit in a wheelchair, who then wheeled me outside onto Wilshire Blvd. Where my boyfriend's car was waiting. Dr. Sheibani never bothered to check in and see how I was doing, or give me instructions on this "shaping garment" that I was supposed to wear for the next couple of weeks. I noticed that my garment was the wrong size. I asked him for a large and he gave me an extra-large, so I went back to his office and he refused to give me a new one so I had to go out and buy one.

I tried to schedule a follow-up appointment with him about 3 or 4 times over the next 3 weeks. It appeared that the swelling around my left hip was not going away. I finally got an appointment with him, where he said "wait another 3 weeks and we'll see if the swelling goes down. If it doesn't then I'll do a touch up". The garment stretched out, so I had to buy another new one.

After 3 more weeks (6 weeks since the surgery). I took the garment off and noticed that my left hip wasn't swollen... It was lopsided. He took out too much fat in the right hip and didn't touch my left hip at all. I became really upset so I called his office and demanded an appointment. The entire office staff gave me the run around for about a week, so I finally just showed up as a walk-in. I went into Dr. Sheibani's office in tears asking him to fix my hips. I also noticed from the puncture scars that he only liposuctioned 5 areas instead of 6 (like I paid for). He insisted that the missing 6th incision was used when he had to "re-do" another area twice. He looked at me in the exam room and said, verbatim, "we're going to have to do a touch up, but that will cost you an additional 1,000 dollars". I disagreed with him and said "I paid for 6 areas and you only did 5. Plus you made me uneven. I think you should do it for free"... This was his exact response "Well, I don't see anything wrong with your hips. If anything you can use buttock implants. Would that interest you?" After I screamed at him for a while, he actually had the nerve to say this (and I will NEVER forget this word-for-word): "I wouldn't worry about your hips. You look better with your clothes on anyway"

Since then, I have seen 3 different board-certified cosmetic surgeons who all told me that Dr. Sheibani first began his practice as a dermatologist. I also found out that he isn't exactly the most respected "cosmetic surgeon" in the medical community. Luckily, I found a new physician who is sympathetic to my situation (and who has actually seen SEVERAL of Dr. Sheibani's "mistake" patients over the past 5 years) and he is willing to try to corrext Dr. Sheibani's mistakes.

Did I mention that I'm still paying for the loan? Please do not go see this guy! You will regret it for the rest of your life (unless you have several thousand dollars to get it fixed) So in response to this a-hole wanna-be doctor's ad campaign, I say this:

If you want your cosmetic surgery done right the first time, go see someone else!
