My wife randomly got a collection letter in the mail for a 500 something dollar medical bill. When we finally figured out where it came from, we contacted our insurance company and they paid the bill. However, now that it was sent to collection even once it's paid there is still a mark on our credit.
We don't make a huge amount of money to just buy whatever we want. But we are responsible with what we have. We relied on my wifes (over 750) credit score to make large purchases. Like our house. Now we have an opportunity to get a much larger house for a great deal, but cant because my wifes credit score is now average.
To start with I thought the law was that you had to send someone a bill 3 times before you send it to collection. So even if that bill was to be paid by us... We never got one! However, it wasn't to be paid by us. It was for the insurance company. Somehow I feel like Livonia Radiology should be held responsible for something. What, I don't know. It's not like I can take them to court to get our credit score back.
So don't use Livonia Radiolgy for anything! They send your bill to collection instead of the insurance company! They won't even send you a bill first to give you a chance to fix the problem... Just straight to collection. Our insurance company never got a claim.
