Ripoff Fraudulent Unauthorized Credit Card Charges

I usually keep a very close eye on all my bills, bank information, and credit card statements. I went to pay my Chase Visa card online today and I noticed a $74.95 charge from LeanRx.net.

Not only have I never heard of this company and therfore never purchased anything from them, this card is locked away in a safe so I don't accidentally use it. It's only purpose was to carry a balance transfer from another card at a lower rate.

Chase suggested I contact LeanRx at the number listed on the statement and try to get them to reverse the charge before I file a dispute. The number gives you to an automated system that asks for your credit card number. Yeah, I'm going to volunteer my number to an unknown company that I'm already trying to get money back from!

I called Chase back and explained everything to them and the rep immediately credited the $74.95 back to my account. Yay Chase! I had a similar dispute with a Bank of America card a little while ago where they had to file a report and send me their decision in the mail a week or two later for a lesser amount.

I'm still dumbfounded that companies actually exist and generate income by charging you out of nowhere or by charging you after you cancelled your "free" sample (as others have mentioned on here) and hoping that people don't notice it on their bills.
