I cancelled my 24 Hour Fitness Membership when I moved from Houston and the closest club at my new location was over 60 miles away.
I prepaid the last month in advance - and called 2 days prior to the month auto-renewal. I was told I would get a refund for the amount prepaid and my account would be cancelled.
Rather, my checking account was hit for the monthly dues after my cancellation. I called to reconfirm my cancellation, now they were saying I had to visit a club for the refund (over 60 miles away). I then cancelled my checking account.
A month later, I got a call from billing asking for me to update my checking information so they could withdraw the monthly dues.
I have since written certified letters to the original gym in Houston and to their corporate office, I have heard nothing since.
I am asking for the two months dues to be repaid to me, as I did not use their gym. That's all - it's only fair.
