I answered the ad for this seemingly legitimate company that grows and sells hydrophonically grown wheatgrass. They advertise a free wheatgrass juicer. I called and talked to Ed Blume, who promised that If I bought a coupon book worth 24 pounds of wheatgrass (enough to last one person 6 months, at two ounces per day, he claimed), for the amount of $269.00, he would give me a free wheatgrass juicer, worth $150.00. He told me that although palm city is a long way from Plantation, he is in my area on Tuesdays and Thursdays, so he would deliver my wheatgrass to me, as he did the "free juicer and first free pound of wheatgrass, which was to last me one week. This sounded like a fair proposal, so I wrote him a check for $269.00 and expected to see him again in one week.
Well, after four days, I was out of wheatgrass, so I called his cell phone (with caller I.D.) and no one answered. I called his company phone, and left a message that I was out of grass, and needed him to deliver more. After receiving no response after two days, I called and left another message, that I was very disappointed in his unreliability, and failure to keep his promise. He called me back that day and apologized, stating that his call phone battery went dead and his truck overheated. That was odd, since someone picked up the cell phone and immediately hung it up (there goes that caller I.D. Again!) He promised to deliver the grass the following day.
The next day, I called his cell phone number and he answered. I asked him when he would be delivering my grass, and he promised that it would be early afternoon. When "early afternoon" came and went the following day, I called him again, and again, he would not answer the phone. That night, I sent him an E-mail to refund my money, minus the $150.00 for the juicer (I felt that this was fair). I wrote that I did not want to do business with him again in any manner, as he had advertised falsely as to the quantity of juice that I would obtain from one pound of wheatgrass, and there is no way that one pound will last one week at two ounces per day. I followed this with a identical message on his answering machine.
Two days later, I receive a box containing 2 pounds of wheatgrass, 2nd day air from ups.inside was wheatgrass in poor condition, as the weather is very hot and any perishable produce needs refrigeration for two days, or it will begin to spoil. This grass was beginning to ferment, so I returned it the next day with another note that he not send me any more, that I did not want to do business with him, and I wanted my $119.00 back immediately. Further, with the Grass, I received a letter claimng that there had been a power failure, and the phone did not work, neither did the fax orcomputer. (what happened to the dead battery on the cell phone and overheated truck?)
I returned the grass over one week ago, and have been totally ignored by this ripoff scam artist.
