Ripoff Running a scam where if you enter your credit card information you can't cancel and the charges do not match the services

I went to eDiets.com to look at the diets offered and perhaps sign on. I tried to "click" on one of the diets offered on their home page but they would not provide informaton on the diet so, I signed up by entering my personal information and credit card information and "agreed" to terms I didn't read. I was then shown a window with additional services which I checked off saying I did not want. I then progressed to the first page of the specific diet. Upon seeing that the diet offered was going to be recipes and meal plans, I decided I did not want this and tried to backtrack back to the home page of eDiets.com

When I did this, all my personal information disappeared. I clicked on a second diet and again, with my credit card info. Blank, I assumed because I backtracked everything was deleted. I then clicked on the second diet and saw that this too would be meal plans. So, I attempted to cancel but could find no information allowing me to do so. So, I immediately clicked on the customer service link and cancelled saying I do not want the service.in backtracking through the windows, the page with all the extra services checked off everything as if I was ordering it and the email I received back from customer service stated I had signed up for something like $150 worth of services. The ediets.com web site states that the cost for the diet is $2.95 per week for 3 months.

I sent another email and was told I would be credited $70.00 but charged for one month. I stated i was on your site and cancelled after something like 5 minutes.
I then called and they would not cancel. They said they could charge me the full amount if they wanted to but instead, realizing that I had back clicked (and that is why charged my card all of the additional services) was an error, they were only charging me partial... in other words, they knew I was cancelling, knew I was not selecting any of these services but still charged me for them initially. During the conversation, I asked to speak to a supervsior. The supervisor, whom I told I would not pay a dime to, started to try and sell me on the service at the same time as I told him I was going to report him to the attorney general. They insisted they could charge me the full amount of money (even though they knew I back clicked which caused the window to select all the services).

I then called American Express and told them I would be disputing the charges.

I believe this organization is a scam. No legitimate company would ever charge a potential customer who goes through a registration process and then before even getting to the services offered (what you are paying for) cancels the service. Nor, does any legitimate company set their system up so that if you back click to earlier screens, it automatically signs you up for over $100 in services you had one minute earlier said you didn't want but doesn't allow you to cancel the service. I never accessed their products nor did I log on and off. This was all in a few minutes.

I believe this is a horrible, horrible company, taking advantage of desperate people looking for help with their weight and that they do anything and everything to charge up people's credit cards.

Any legitimate contract will have a grace period of at least 5 minutes, especially, when the customer has not taken the merchandise.in this case, I never accessed the paid for information. I cancelled prior to that.

Please do not let anyone else make the mistake of entering personal information or credit card information in order to advance to the next screen that has more information on the products because they will not let you cancel.
