During the free 3-month trial in my new car, XM called me and offered a deal to extend the service to 12 months. I accepted, but DID NOT authorize them for an automatic renewal. I was out of the country for six weeks and during that time my 12-mo subscription expired. Upon receiving an invoice, I called to cancel and close my account. THREE more times I received invoices demanding immediate payment of $31.57 and each time I wrote back repeating my cancellation request. I also was badgered with several phone calls to restart my service. Each time I declined. Finally, this week I received a bill from their collection agency.in sheer frustration I paid up. This was a wrongful charge and a harassment almost bordering on extortion. People, if you accepted free offer and do not wish to continue service, please CANCEL several days BEFORE the expiration and write back too.
