Mobile Telesys, Inc. Uses unscrupulous business tactics to get business

I am writing to express my disgust and anger at the way Mobile Telesys, Inc at Stonewood Center in Downey and the manager, Tony Gomez treated me on Sunday Night, November 18.

I was walking past the Mobile Telesys, Inc. Stand and was waived over by a friendly man, who introduced himself as Tony Gomez. He asked me if I would be interested in the two phone promo that was going on. I said yes, I had been thinking about getting a cell phone and I asked him several questions. He would quickly mumble some unintelligible answers and I had to frequently ask him to repeat himself. Throughout the conversation, he would frequently look over at the young female patrons as they walked by, say hello, and flirt with them while ignoring my questions, at which point I was beginning to become frustrated because I would continually have to repeat my questions to get him to answer me. I noticed that he never showed me any information in writing. I told him if that if I would accept the plan, I would need a less expensive monthly plan, where as he said they had several plans and he would need my driver license and credit card so that he could see which plan I qualified for. He then told me to come back in half an hour for a response
.
I came back 10 minutes later to see if he had any info yet, and he said No, not yet. Come back in 20 minutes. So, I decided to look at other cell phone stores to see if their customer service techniques were any better. I walked to a nearby store and asked some questions to a sales person, who by the way, was not pushy at all, and he wrote out all information in detailed form and gave me several pamphlets that gave thorough information on all their plans. Then he asked me what I signed up for. I told him that I had no clue because the Manager did not give me any written info and was vague when I would question him... I was then told to be careful and wait another day so that I could get better information before I finalized my transaction.

So, I went back to Tony at Mobile Telesys, Inc. And told him that I was not ready to go through with this transaction, because he did not explain anything to me and I needed more information and a day to think about it, but that I would come back tomorrow. Immediately his friendly demeanor changed, and he became belligerent, cocky and arrogant, puffing his chest out in my face as if he were challenging me, all this taking place in front of my three children. He said it was too late, that he already ran my credit card, and the phone was already activated. I said No, please charge back my account, you didn't show me any itemization of the charges, you didn't explain anything to me, I am not comfortable entering into this agreement. He refused and repeated No, the phone was already activated, too late, no I am not going to do that then he pulled out some pamphlet with general information, threw it at me and said There, now quit tripping. I then asked him what my phone numbers were if they were activated. He started stuttering and said it isn't processed yet. So I told him that it must not be activated, please charge back my card immediately. He refused again so I asked for the manager, and he said that he was the manager. I asked for someone higher than him and he said he was the manager and if I wanted someone else, I would have to call back tomorrow to find out who his manager is. I then asked for a business card with a corporate office phone number on it and he said he didn't have one. He then told me I would have to leave or he would call security. I said Good, please call them now so they can see that you are trying to rip me off. When security arrived, I gave them a brief summary as to what happened. The security officers told Tony that he needed to give me a card with the manager's name and company headquarters' phone number on it and all of a sudden, Tony miraculously pulled out a card from a drawer, since only a few minutes prior he said he didn't have one.

One of the security officers pulled me aside and told me that he would strongly suggest that I file a complaint with the Stonewood Mall Management Office because this is not the first time they have had a problem with this company, which is what I then proceeded to do.

On Monday, November 19, I spent 45 minutes on hold to the Mobile Telesys Customer Service Center when finally a rep, Jose, answered the phone. When I told him the problem and that I needed to speak to supervisor immediately to have this issue resolved, he asked for some information on the contract that I was given that would have had an account number. I told him that no such thing was given to me. He said he could not pull up any information on his computer and that I was not a customer, I did not exist. I told him this was a serious problem; I needed someone to speak to immediately so that this transaction can be cancelled immediately. He then put me on hold for another 10 minutes, came back and told me his supervisor was Too busy to talk to me and that they would call me back in 1 hour. It has been well over 48 hours and nobody from Mobile Telesys has contacted me as of yet!

After hanging up with Mobile Telesys, I called Verizon Wireless to try to get this resolved. A very nice gentleman named Dustin tried to assist me. He tried to get Mobile Telesys on the line but after holding for about 35 minutes, he came back and told me that they refused to come on the line. He said there was not much he could do about the situation; I would still need to get in touch with Mobile Telesys.

I then called Frank Gomez, the name that was on the card Tony gave me as his manager. I asked him for assistance. He rudely told me to call the number on the card that I had and that he didn't have any supervisors and hung up on me.

I again called Mobile Telesys on Wednesday November 21 and after being put on hold for 48 minutes, was assisted by a Representative named Andrea, who was finally able to offer some sort of help. I explained the situation to her and she told me that I would have to go to the same store that I received the phones from. I told her that I was not comfortable going back there after I was humiliated and traumatized by Tony Gomez and rudely treated on the phone by Frank Gomez and I would not go back there if those two individuals were still there. Imagine my surprise when she told me that they are the same person! Not only does your company humiliate, traumatize, and take advantage of customers, they misrepresent themselves, which constitutes fraud!

I am so frustrated and disgusted with Mobile Telesys, Inc. They took advantage of a single parent. They lied to me. They humiliated me and embarrassed my children by calling security on me. The traumatized my family. I can't even fathom going back to that store to return these phones. The thought makes me sick to my stomach.

It is my hope that the public can be made aware of this dishonest company, before another innocent victim is taken advantage of and humiliated by a company who has no regard for anyone or anything. I have told all of my family, friends, and coworkers not to do any business with Mobile Telesys, Inc., the most dishonest, despicable company that I have ever come in contact with.
