Ordered a canon t1i camera body and 24-70 mm lens at their web listed price for a total of $1790.34, including $101.34 shipping. Called to confirm the body was a black body. "Jimmy" wanted to sell me a backup camera battery ranging from "3" hour battery to a 7 hr battery @ $179, but offered to give me a 2nd battery at half off. Said I'd think about it, and wanted to make sure I could just place the order online. "Yes, " he said, so I checked into it online and ordered the battery for $10 elsewhere.
Ordered online. "Alonzo" called back and said the lens was a film lens and wouldn't work on a digital camera, that the lens I needed would be an add'l $300. I disagreed, knowing the lens for digital and film were the same, but he insisted there was a difference. I told him I'd just keep my order, then he said I'd have to pay for insurance. Told him to cancel the order.
He said that by ordering online, I had agreed to a cancellation fee, which was in the fine print. I said you're doing a bait and switch. He said no, they were authorized dealers, and I couldn't get this elsewhere at this price.
Hung up, called my credit card to make sure they hadn't billed me, then checked with Canon. Nope, they're not registered dealers.
