I had a rude awakening today. At the Compton, California Best Buy store, I wanted to buy a DIRECTV satellite receiver of my own. The salesperson informed me that even if I purchased the receiver, it would still be leased from DIRECTV, and it said so right on the box. That means you will be paying for that receiver as long as you buy the service, never to own it or stop paying the lease.
At first I was angry at DIRECTV, then I channeled my anger toward the politicians who allow the satellite companies to get away with this. Yes, I was told that DISH TV has the same policy.
When the class action lawsuit begins, count me in.
