I buy and iPhone, and love it, it works great, better than any PDA I ever had.
I go to Bermuda, I do not even turn on my iPhone - had a laptop and hotel had WiFi.
I get back to the states, and my iPhone has been turned off.
I call AT&T, and I am told that I owe $1,600 because of usage while I was in Bermuda. I say I never even turned on my iPhone - no call were made, and I did not down load anything.
The person on the phone explains that the iPhone powers itself up automatically and downloads "updates" to itself - to the tune of $1,600! Forget the updates, I could of bought 8 iPhones for what they want to charge me for the "automatic" updates.
I asks if this is serious, and they say "yes, you signed a contract, and it is all in there".
Guys/Gals - do not take your iPhone out of the country, or the same thing can happen to you.
