The first time I called the customer service center about my problem, and told them about the complaints that I have been reading about Hitachi's convergence and other problems, I was told that Hitachi sells so many millions of dollars in products each year that all of our little complaints didn't add up to anything they were worried about.
Here's my problem: I purchased my Hitachi Projection TV Model 60CX29B in September of 1999.in November of a service call had to be made to adjust my convergence - the TV was so blurry we couldn't watch it.in July of now that the warranty has expired, the TV has returned to the blurry state, and after calling Hitachi I was instructed to call an authorized service agent for repair.
I am getting quotes of anywhere from $200 - $300 to adjust the picture. At this rate, once per year, I will eat the cost of my TV in four years. After sending a detailed e-mail to Hitachi explaining the history and asking if there was a recall, I was greeted with what appeared to be an automated response advising me to contact an authorized service agent for repair. They obviously didn't even read my e-mail.
I am very disappointed. I have owned many projection TVs and have NEVER had this problem, and am now considering selling my Hitachi at a garage sale and re-purchasing the Toshiba or the RCA that made me so happy in the past.
They finally did come in September to repair the tv - it took quite a few weeks to get action and they still made me pay for parts. It has not even been three months since "repair" and the problem is back.
Now to January and they sent an "authorized representative" to fix the problem, AGAIN. After they left, my screen is worse than before, and now I have "burning" around the edges and in the middle.
I called Hitachi, AGAIN, and similar to their first conversation, they simply don't care. They advised it's no longer their problem.
