I fell victim to Mark Goles on August 6. He came into a AOL chatroom and asked if anyone wanted a nice deal on a Sony Vio Laptop. I started to ask more questions and he had a good answer for everything.
I offered to post $250.00 towards the $500.00 asking price. The balance upon a sucessful delivery. He wanted me to moneygram him, but that's usless if you need to file a claim. I offered to do it via PAYPAL and he agreed.
I sent the money on August 6th and he said he would ship it next day. Two weeks went by and I asked him for the tracking number as froof of shipment. He wouldn't reply to any of my emails.By then, I knew he screwed me out of my money, so I contacted PAYPAL and filed a claim against him.
Then, I went to his MYSPACE page and posted crude comments about him and the fact he was a thief. I also visited his FACEBOOK PAGE and did the same thing. Then PAYPAL started putting pressure on him to refund the money or lose his business account.
On September 2, he put $270.00 back into my PAYPAL account. The extra $20.00 was for the transaction fees I incurred. I pointed out to Mark that this was not the way to conduct business and he kinda admitted to trying to defraud me and said he was sorry.
Anyways, I did get my money back and I'm now a lot wiser to these internet thieves. Don't do business with strangers. And DON'T use MONEYGRAM! It's a waste. NO Security there. Go with PayPal. At least you'll have some big guns on your side in case you get ripped off.
