Sony Camera Repair Woes

Sony must want to die in America, if they get too many of these scenarios. Here is the letter I am sending them TODAY to request a refund in full for their unprofessional and inconclusive repair attempts.

Dear Review Committee,

I find this appalling that I would have to take my request to so-called executives, which I still dont believe is the case; to get a FULL REFUND from your abusive and extremely unprofessional repair center in Laredo, TX; that has not NOT REPAIRED my SONY MAVICA MVC-CD400 camera, and does NOT intend to repair my camera. The people that answer the phone there, as well as the technician are enjoying themselves while they LIE about the work, and LIE about what they will return with my camera to prove theyve tested it fully.

Just so that you know that Im making myself perfectly CLEAR to you; I am copying the ATTY GENERALS of both TEXAS and FLORIDA to let them know of your practices in customer satisfaction avoidance; and sluggish response to my dissatisfaction and desire to be fully refunded for a fraudulent experience that your repair center has given me. This is UNACCEPTABLE behavior, UNETHICAL business practices, and I believe UNLAWFUL for you to keep my money when you fail to provide the service which you tout is of the highest quality.

My camera is BROKEN, and remains BROKEN. I first requested the repair process on January 10, online via the internet, and used your interactive forms to describe the nature of the problem with my camera. Its display was out, and you couldnt tell what else may be wrong with it since you couldnt read a thing from the display. I used your prepaid shipping label to expedite getting my camera to the repair center in Laredo, TX (my only option); and the camera was returned in about a week with the display working once again. However, there was an extra disk included with a note saying there was a disk error with the media, and they sent a new disk back to me. When I put the disk in, and I have a box of brand new, SONY-brand blank disks to try, none of them worked. The camera tried to format and initialize the disk automatically but failed midstream again and again while coming up with DISK ERROR.

I called back, and got a return label to ship it back to Laredo, TX and the folks down there said they couldnt find the problem, so I asked the tech (Carlos Trejo) to send back a disk that DID work; and he said he would, and that it would have pictures on it he had taken to show that it was working. That was a LIE. He did NOT do what he said; and every time I would try to call down to Laredo, TX; a different voice would answer the phone and never let me speak to the TECH always saying that he was on the phone or busy with another customer, and that he would call be back as soon as he was done with them. HOURS later, and even DAYS later he would not return my call. But, when I became livid over them not getting back to me, THEN he would magically come to the phone.

Now, this is TWICE that Ive sent this camera down there, and its now back at my house STILL BROKEN. I tried to call the CORPORATE CUSTOMER SATISFACTION line, but it ALWAYS routed me back down to Laredo, TX, where they seemed to have fun tossing me around in their phone system. I even heard what sounded like partying going on in the background and loud laughing on one of my calls to them. And, never did I seem to get anyone to say they were empowered to refund my money in full.

So here we are, over a MONTH later; and I still dont have a working camera, and Im also out $220.00 which I couldve used to go and buy another camera with 2-3x the
Resolution of the one I was trying to fix. I am attaching my EMAIL that has the MODEL
NUMBER, the SERIAL NUMBER, and the WORK ORDER, and my AMERICAN EXPRESS charge showing what I paid to get this lousy treatment from Sony Coporation. This should NOT take you very long to come to the conclusion that you simply must refund my money in full; and let me go back to my life that was absent of the hassle you have caused me. I am totally disgusted with this company and your methods for delaying my satisfaction and you should be ashamed of the poor quality of service you are getting down in Laredo, TX.
