Consumers purchasing televisions at Costco Wholesale in Hoover, Alabama be aware that some "discounted" or "last-item" regular and big-screen t.V. S on sale there, may have been refurbished by the local store. Meaning that that television has been sent out for repairs locally, then sold in store WITHOUT disclosure. This practice is being done to save costs to the warehouse by not having to sell the product as salvage if credit is not available from the vendor, or if no credit is available since it is a diverted item. This practice was started in the spring of 2007 by the store's G.M. And the electonics department head. To my knowledge is still going on, although I do not have proof of its continuing practice, so, buyers be aware and ask questions.
Why would they do this? Well, to save money and it is their opinion that if it is fixed, and sold at a discount, then whats the problem? Well the problem is deception, and non-disclosure - its dishonest. Plus you as a consumer have no record of what the problem was.
