In 2003 I bought a pair of KLH Audio Systems speakers at my local Best Buy. I thought they were a nice pair of speakers, rated at 250 watts per channel and with a five year warranty. My stereo is a Pioneer receiver rated at 28 watts per channel, hardly capable of blowing 250 watt speakers.
Recently, I noticed that the tweeters in these speakers are blown and the crossovers are shorted. I tried to contact KLH to arrange for some warranty repair or to inquire about just buying the bad parts rather than shipping the speakers to California from Iowa. The telephone number is either busy or just rings and rings. I have sent a total of 23 E-mail messages over the past few weeks with absolutely no response from them.
If they refuse to answer their phone or E-mails, they can't honor warranty repairs or serve their customers. My E-mail messages were very polite for the first week, then I became more insistent upon a response, reminding them that, "Reputable companies will answer customer inquiries promptly, especially customers likely to buy something." No response.
Finally, I added to that, "Other companies just rely on sticking it to anyone they can, and are not interested in customer satisfaction or repeat business. The eventual outcome of this inquiry will determine if I ever buy KLH speakers again or post negative comments on several consumer report websites about your company." Still no response.
It's obvious to me that they don't care about honoring my warranty or even selling me the parts so I can do the repair myself. Apparently, they don't even care if I bad-mouth them on the internet, either.
So, when you buy speakers, I hope you'll remember my experience with KLH Audio Systems junk: speakers that can't handle one tenth of their rated power, and a company that completely ignores their customers!
