Fraudulent Baiting Scam With Misuse Of Credit Card Charges On Digital Camera Sales

SourceforDigital.com has refined their scam apparently. They now not only try to con you into buying rediculously over-priced (needless) extras during the processing of the order, they actually charge your credit card and use YOUR money for several weeks before cancelling your order. I believe this scam has now been elivated to a quazi-Ponzi Scheme.

I fell for their too-good-to-be-true-Holiday-Sale pricing while shopping for a Christmas present this year, a Panasonic DMC-FZ50 for $395. (That is a great price for this late-model gem.) My on-line order generated an Order Confirmation, and call from a very polite man who gave me false information about the camera's battery performance to convince me I should pay 2-times the going price for a better one. He also offered other stupid extras at inflated prices. I declined, and was told, "Enjoy your camera."

Next, I received a detailed order report, and a notice that my credit card was going to be charged $409 for the transaction. I checked my account on SourceForDigital.com, and my camera was listed as Shipped... Suspiciously, BEFORE the charge showed on my credit card. But, make no mistake, they charge your credit card the full amount with NO INTENTION of filling the order.

Finally, 2-weeks of waiting began for the ghost-camera to show up. It ended with a quiet credit to my credit card for $409. No reason, excuse, or cancellation was offered. I firmly believe this scam was just about using my (and many others) $409 for a few weeks before Christmas to finance their reprehensibly dishonest business.

(1CHARGES TO YOUR CREDIT CARD

If the charge was to your credit card (not debit card, check card, or checking account), contact the credit card company as soon as possible to request a dispute form. Consumers usually have a little longer to dispute fraudulent credit card charges (up to 6 months), but it is better to act right away.in this type of situation, credit card disputes are usually successful since fraudulent companies often won't contest the disputed charge.in rare cases, credit card companies will review disputes, but refuse to reverse the charges. If this occurs, complain to a manager and let them know you will be filing a report here.

Remember Don't let them get away with it! Make sure theymake the consumer complaints. The more Reports filed on a Company or individual, the more likely it is that the authorities, media and attorneys will want to take action.
