Nextel - sprint Cell Phone Ripoff The biggest ripoff and scam artists in the cell phone business

This is the worst cell phone company going and sprint should have stayed as far away from Nextel as they could have gotten! They have taken over $889 from me and 2 months and I still have NO phone service!

Back to the beginning here as everyone knows Nextel will give you a cell phone on a 2 year contract no matter what your credit rating is if you pay the $150 deposit. They talked me into buying a camera phone that was pricey but had an almost full rebate which I have written about prior to this since the rebate was never gotten by them and they had to have the origionals and i sent them so I couldnt resend after they claim not to have recieved the first ones and then after sending me to the sales office for a copy they said the promotion had expired so there went the $50 rebate out the window and all I got was a Sorry!

Next I paid $214 upfront for the service contract with 2000 anytime minutes, nights and weekends free. One week later I got a bill for $128 for the 1st months usage which they claim is in advance? Well what was the $52 over the origional $150 deposit I paid upfront for? Mind you this plan rate is $39.99 a month right? Before that bill came due they cut off my service for being over my spending limit and I had to pay it down to under the $150 to get it turned back on and little did I know that the first $25 I paid was a reconnect fee so the money I paid on the bill was barely touched and 3 days later it was cutoff again!

Now each time I called customer service and each time they took the payment and not once did they mention that their billing cycles were 24 hours behind so that after I paid this amount the next day I might just be over the spending limit again and have the phone cut off again. This is exactly what happened and there goes another $25 reconnect fee. Now int he first place once they cut off service you cannot access the online bill so you cant see what your paying for and all you can go by is what they are telling you via the phone! Funny that they cutoff service the same time block your bill so you cant see it huh? Does anyone else find this practice a little fishy?

This happened 4 times in a week time and each time I made a payment via the credit card and eacht ime they turned the phne back on and told me I had under the $150 spending limit and some of those times it should have been way way under and the bill was less then $25 left owed but I couldnt see any of this as I still have gotten only one bill by mail and cant see the online one due to the block.

I called and asked someone to explain to me how this bill got so high and was told I had internet charges on the phone? I didnt even now I had internet on this phone so how could I have used it? Then they said I had something like $60 in MQube calls on there and those are some kinds of ringtoones and it is a scam as they send you these text messages and they are numbered and once you open it your charged the $5.99 or $9.99 amount of the message and I asked to speak to someone about this and the hateful lady at Nextel told me they didnt handle 3rd party billing? Well they sure did take my money for this 3rd party billing so how can they NOT handle it? All BS if you ask me so I just paid it and they cut the phone off again and again I paid it.

Now this has gone on for the 2 and one half months I have had this service and yesterday I refused to pay anymore on it. I have made 11 payments totalling $889 to this compnay since June 23rd and still they say I owe $212 before they will cut it back on and I am not paying anymore until I see a bill!

There is no way anyone especially a 49 year old disabled lady could use that much cell phone service and yes I have Vonage so I have a phone at home with calling anywhere in the US so my cell is used only when I am out which is not very often due to my disablity. I didnt use the internet nor do I have any ringtones on the phone other then the ones it came with and I have not changed those as I wouldnt know where to or how to go about it.

I had a prepaid phone for years with T-Mobile and I used that everywhere I went and I cant imagine I ever even had to buy almost $900 worth of cell phone time in all those years.

If your thinking about switching to Nextel/Sprint? DONT DO IT! You will never get the bill paid and if your thinking of going from prepaid to a contract? DONT DO IT!

I am back to using my old faithful prepaid and so so much happier as I know what I am getting billed for at least.

I will chalk this up to a lesson learned in life and tell everyone I know of to stay away from these merged companies and be alot richer for it.

By the way that $899 is more then I draw in SSD each month so they left my savings drained as well but at the time I was out of touch and my kids had to be able to get a hold of me in case of emergency or they wouldn't have gotten the first dime must less the last one!

Shame on a company that preys on the poor and not so credit rich and there was a time before I got hurt and lost everything I owned I could have gone to any cell phone company but now I am stuck doing business with less then reputable places of business and that wil come home to all of Nextel someday who participates in this kind of money scamming out of the not so rich folks.
