DirecTV
Ripoff

DirecTV rebates are a rip-off. I moved in August and went for a new DVR after 8 years with DirecTV. They sweetended the pot by saying the DVR was $99.00 but they would give me a $100 rebate after I turned in the rebate form. I would receive the form in 2-3 weeks.

A month after getting the new system, The DVR broke down and I called and got a replacement and asked when I would receive the rebate form... 2-3 weeks... Same as the reponse last time. I finally got the form a couple of weeks later (6 weeks after the original installation) and I turned in all of my forms with the rebate form the same day. I didn't think about it again until Christmas.

My DVR had lost signal due to the wind and was still having problems after fixing the dish so I called for support and to check on my rebate. They said they would send my problem on to the next level and someone would get back to me in a couple of days. Nothing.

A month later, I called again and they said they hadn't received my form and that I would have to resend it. I could go on-line and download the form (which never worked for me in the past when they suggested that route) or they could send one in 2-3 weeks. I asked to have that expidited and suggested that Directv fill one out and send it in on my behalf. They just keep reading from the script of "I apologize for your inconvenience and I understand your frustration, but we can do nothing until you return the rebate form, " as if I had not done that. These are all CS reps with heavy accents and made-up American names; Kelly, Grace and John.

They have no intention of giving me my rebate as promised. They are quite happy using that money in their investments to get richer... Not that $100 will do much... But multiply that by every DVR customer and that is quite a dent!

Now I'm waiting on the supervisor's, supervisor to call me tomorrow with an equally inept script that tells me that this whole mess is my fault and that if I was a better person, they would have received my rebate form. All I know is, they are paying out $5-million for Do-Not-Call violations and are in the process of reforming ad practices and paying millions in refunds. I better be one of the recipients or you have not heard the last of me! I may be a consumer... But I am also media and will do everything in my power to insure that Directv gets the reputation it desrves! This is where I start. I hope the $100 is worth it to them. They have no idea who they just made mad!
