They hit me in Irvine, CA today. I feel really silly, but after a long day at work in the sun, I was not thinking clearly and bought into this scam.
There was only one guy and he was very convincing. This guy's supposed name is Ralph Castro, puny skinny guy, showed me his California license, which I am now sure is fake, and drives an '84 or '85 red Chevy Blazer with a cracked windshield.
The story is the same. He even showed me an article in a guitar catalog with an add for the speakers inside it advertised for $1499 each. I did need some speakers and the speakers looked very clean and well constructed.
After some rest, I decided to stop by the office and research the equipment that I had just willfully gave $300. Unfortunately, the only hits I got on the subject were the one's entitled "Rip Off". It seems, from some of the stories I read, I was lucky to only lose $300.
I lost more in the stock market, however, it feels like I was just mugged and the weapon used was my own stupidity and gullibility. Lesson learned.
This sort of scam has been going on for years and I know I should have known better. My suggestion is to always be on your toes.
