I was shopping for a new phone online and got to cellularchoices.com in August.
In addition to instant $150 rebate, they promised $30 mail-in rebate. Their website stated that they are a partner with Sprint (the partner that as I found out later Sprint has no idea about!)
I called to order my phone an asked a representative 3 times if I am eligible for rebate if I am already with Sprint. 3 times she told me Yes, but that to change my number to my existing number I will have to contact Sprint after I receive my phone.
Which is what I have proceeded to do. It was all fine until December 20, when I received a COLLECTION NOTICE from InPhonic demanding a $150 from me because I have cancelled the account they have setup for me with Sprint.
The account 1) Had my last name completely misspelled. 2) Had a new phone number.
I have called the collections department (1-866-635-7400) and actually talk to live people, who were extremely rude. THEY ACCUSED ME OF LYING when I stated that their representative told me it's OK to switch numbers and HAVE THREATENED TO TRANSFER MY CASE TO COLLECTIONS AGENCY.
I was able to call and convince Sprint to give my account $150 credit so that I am able to Pay InPhonic. I called InPhonic back on December 30 and paid them $150, after that they promised to SEND ME A LETTER confirming that my account was cleared.
I HAVE NOT RECEIVED IT. Since then, I have not been able to get any live person when I call the same number (1-866-635-7400). It is ALWAYS an answering machine. I must have left 30 messages already.
Twice, however, comeone called me from there and said: "Hello I am returning your call, but let me transfer you to someone who can look up your account." Upon which, before I was able to say anything, they proceeded to HANG UP ON ME. Calling back is useless.
I wish i searched this site before. Do not buy a phone from any of the websites specified. These people will rip you off.
