I ordered a 40 gig iPod from Digital Megastore (DM) on 12/14/04, and inputed my PO Box address (which I love using, because then things don't get lost). It turned out that DM only uses Federal Express for delivery of their packages, and Fed Ex won't deliver to PO Boxes. So a customer service rep from DM called me 2 days later to get my residential address. I gave my Sherman Oaks to her over the phone very carefully. On 12/17, I received a badly formatted HTML email with a tracking number. I anticipated the arrival of my iPod.

On 12/21 I saw that the package had mysterously been transported to San Francisco, CA. There was an attempted delivery on the tracking information page, so I called Fed Ex about it. They said that the zip code on the package was 94103 (instead of 91403), so I gave Fed Ex my correct zip code, and told them I would probably not be at home for pick-up. The Fed Ex rep suggested they could leave it at the closest Fed Ex hold location, and said it was on 15720 Ventura Blvd, Encino (not far from where I lived). On 12/22, I noticed the package was delivered, but according to the Fed Express employees was never received at that hold location. So now the package is lost, and Fed Ex said the sender (not me, the recipient) could file claim. I called Digital Megastore and spoke to a rep who said that was fine, and I would be credited within 7 days. It's been a month since I ordered this product, and still nothing. I never received the product, and I'm out $383.

Other warning signs that something was/would go wrong:
* Digital Megastore did not respond after I ordered the product, so I sent them an email. It was only after that they sent a confirmation message.

* The customer service rep who took my address never repeated it back to me - if she had, we would have avoided this confusion all together.

* I found Digital Megastore through Bizrate, and went with them because they had thousands of good reviews. But if you look at the bad reviews, they are VERY bad.
