Ripoff, charged twice, fraudulent, substituted refurbished for new

On December 3rd I ordered a Nikon camera from overstock.com. We previously had an account that had our credit information, and when I clicked on submit, I was informed that the credit card which was also our atm, denied the amount and to enter another card. I did so and hit submit and the sale went through. I printed out the receipt that showed the successful submission, and received an email receipt. The next tuesday I called the bank to make sure that we balanced, and found two charges for the camera. I called overstock.com and was told that it was an "authorization" fee and would come off.

I called the bank back and they said, no that overstock had charged and been paid twice. I again called overstock and was told that I had ordered two cameras. I told them, no, I only ordered one and that I had the successful order printout to prove it. Extremely rude person who kept saying that I had ordered two and had to pay for two.

I asked for a manager and was told one was not available (which I have been told EVERY time I have called). I kept at it until I got to speak with Vanessa who said that I ordered one that was denied and was put through later and accepted and that I had to pay for it. I said I did not authorize that, nor was I made aware of them doing something "later" so why must I pay. They sent two cameras and when I received them I called the company back and was told they would email me an overnight label, but that it would take four days for them to email me this label.

I said that was unacceptable to have to wait four days to have something emailed to me. They sent it in two days. When I opened the package that I was to keep, the shipping info states the same as my receipt, A Nikon N75 SLR camera. The boxes stated that the contents were refurbished.

Nothing on the site stated the camera was not new, nothing on the receipt says this, nor the shipping invoice. Not only have they now charged me twice (plus two authorizations) they sent used goods. The shipping label when it finally arrived was a ground label that would take up to 10 days. I sent the package back and have the return receipt. I called the next thursday, the 16th of December and was told that yes they did receive the package back and that I would receive an email in two days stating when I would get the refund.

I called today, 12/23 because I have not gotten an email. Spoke first with Don who said there were no supervisors available. I said I would hold on all night if necessary to speak with one. He put me on hold and 15 minutes later hung up on me. I called back again, again asked to speak with a supervisor, and was put on hold for an additional 20 minutes until Jenny picked up the phone. She again said it was just an authorization and that there was nothing she could do and to again contact my bank. I told her to recheck all the notes that I know are on this account because people have referred to them in these conversations. She then said oh yes there were two charges, and yes they did get the camera back, but that it would take 14 business days before they could authorize the refund, and an additional 5 days before I could possibly get my money back.

Merry Christmas!!! No one has told the truth, and no one has done what they said. I still don't have the hundreds of dollars that I spent on this, and my gift to my husband is a used camera to boot.
