Ripoff overcharged for wires and sues vintage clothing stores, Disney, and anyone with MONSTER in their name!

Dear Monster Cable Company,

Earlier this month I bought for my family a brand new home entertainment center, a new computer with a beautiful DVI-in LCD monitor, a new DVI-in LCD monitor for the old computer (with a new video card I needed to use it), and a new set of speakers for my old stereo in the living room. On the advice of the BestBuy rep, I purchased all new Monster cables and a surge supressor powerbar with noise reduction to go with it. I had it all hooked up already, and I was pretty happy (but broke for the year!)

Then I read about your frivilous lawsuits and rushed to BestBuy to return all of it — $464.89 worth of Monster (R) (TM) (C) Brand cables and surge supressor. Thank goodness BestBuy has a fair return policy.

I purchased Recoton and Radio Shack replacements for most (less than $150 total to replace almost $500 of wires!) and ordered the rest I need from the internet. I'd rather shut down part of my home theatre for a few days than support a company like yours. So it may not be hooked up again in time for Christmas — IT'S WORTH IT! You have to know that good people don't support your actions, and this message and my returning your products is the only way I know to tell you how I feel.

I used to think you made good cables. They're expensive, yes, but I've always viewed them as good quality and worth it. But I had no idea you were this greedy, cruel, underhanded, and litigious.

I read the facts — you're not protecting your trademark, you're just being evil. I've seen the "Monster Vintage" logo, and if you try to tell me it was in any way similar to yours, or that a VINTAGE CLOTHING STORE was diluting your trademark I'd laugh and call you evil AND liars. Disney's Monsters, Inc., and all those other lawsuits you use to line your pockets and tie up this country's courts with are an embarrasment. You really should be ashamed of your business practices.

As a Christian who tries to only support GOOD companies with my patronage, your unacceptable behavior and prompted me to do a little research and some in-system comparisons. I've only compared a few so far, but the cheaper cables look and sound just as good! They're certainly a better value.

I will never purchase another Monster Cable product, nor will any one in my family, until I am convinced that you have seen the error of your ways and changed for the better (and this will take a long time!) That is not a threat — it is a promise! And this Sunday I will share this story and printouts of all those websites with all of the parishioners at my church. Please note that many of them think of me as the "tech guru" as I set up the new projector for the building and often help our friends with their home audio and video projects. I'm sure they will see the very un-Christian-like nature of your ways and join me in a Boycott of your products.
