We were invited to visit Marshall's ATA by a friend. We decided to try out an introductory period for $99. At the end of this period we were going to have to quit because of a scheduling conflict. We were offered an additional intro period for $99. My child worked hard to prepare for the upcoming testing.
The day before testing, as we were preparing, we were informed that we wouldn't be permitted to test. We were told that we would have to pay an additional $150 plus testing fees and enter into a 12-month contract. The reason given was that ATA will not allow you to test under an intro period. This is obviously a lie. This all happened two weeks into the five week intro period. We promptly discontinued our involvement with Marshall's ATA. I requested a refund and was refused.
I feel completely mislead and cheated.
The biggest disappointment was to my 7-year old child that had worked so hard with Robert and Cynthia. He respected them and didn't understand why they wouldn't let him test. He thought he had done something wrong. This was a tough lesson in disappointment and dishonesty for a young child.
It is wrong to represent yourself as a leader and a role model to a child when all you care about is money! If you are looking for a reputable martial arts facility don't go to Marshall's ATA!
