I am an ex-student of Westwood College i was there about a year. I was promised the credits would be tranfered to "other schools." I left very excited from the office after enrolling telling myself "I am taking my life from the horns and going to get a carreer". So foolish of me! I started school and for an new student, i would never think that i am going to take classes with other students that have been there years. That was the reality, students were ex-military, DC Maryland and Virginia.
Classes were so basic, I started feeling like i could do it with an intructional DVD.By that time i start noticing a pattern; the fact that I kept getting good grades with little to no effort from my end and the school did not have a established curriculum.
With a establish curriculum a studing is supposted to be increasing his/her skills. Well, I was bumped from geometry to Advance Calculus. To me was not a huge issue, since I have taking calculus in high school, but other students did not get that class since it was advance class. That same semester I was bumped from English college level to advance English class and public speaking. With my expericen at a community college I knew those courses were supposed to be later ahead.
That is when it hit me. I was upset at the school and I started to do my research and google "westwood scam" so many websites about students complaining. I learned about for-profit schools, how i fell on the preasure they put on you about enrolling and how nice and fast they go and apply for loans for this school. They also made me get my mother, which never went to school, to apply as a co-signer with out knowing it was a rip-off.
The next day I went to ask the main office that i have read the school mission plan that you study for about 3 years paying for a private school to get an entry level job. What a scam! Their answers is that I never asked and it was my fault. With anger and in tears a councelor from westwood told me it happen to her daughter also. I did not know how to tell my parents by they said "it a lesson that we have to live with. A legal scam" I tried to find lawyer to help me but i did not find any on the area.
After a year inwestwood put me about 20000.00 in debt. I am to be in debt and not even finish school. Hopefully this help other students dont fall in this ripoff and I hope to get some money to help me pay for this scam.
