I am reporting for my 83 y/o mother who discovered unexplained debits from her checking account (unauthorized use of her debit card). These were for Connections and Homeworks Plus, neither of which she had ever heard of before.
With the assistance of her bank she learned that these charges were membership fees giving her discounts on entertainment and home decorating/cooking/home entertainment/home improvement. At her age, although quite active, she's not undertaking expenditures in any of these areas to the degree she would ever consider needing a membership discount program to stretch her dollars.in fact, $19.95/month for each of these is outrageous for any senior with limited income!
Other than cancelling the debit card, so far her bank has provided her with no assistance in recovering these charges.
