Camila Vallejo Dowling Not a Rebel, Fraud, Hypocrite

The public fetishistically substitutes consumer ideals for the lost acculturating experiences of art, religion and family. The consumer sublimates desire for cultural fulfillment to the rewards of buying and owning commodities, and substitutes media-manipulated undulations in the public persona for spiritual rebirth.in the myth of consumerism, there is no rebirth or renewal. And there are no iconic symbols to evoke transcendent truths. It exists as an incomplete and inadequately engineered system of values substituted for a waning cultural heritage.
Who cares as long as it looks and sounds good? In its duplicitous plot to throttle the public, corporate policy assumes only the self-interested exploitation of the consumer market and environmental resources. Corporate priorities and the business ethic are not intrinsically humanitarian or ecologically sensitive. Self-awareness and self-worth have been distorted. We are what we wear.in the New Capitalism's seduction of the television audience, the individuating personality identifies with advertising fantasies and consumer ideals. Who we are merges with roles and images portrayed in the media. Ever so subtly we are losing our ability to act independently of the justifications of consumerism. This constitutes a qualitative loss to the individuation process. The affront on human values by mass media advertising has left a well actualized consumer but a poorly individuated personality. As advertising duplicity invades the ideal realm and appropriates subjective value for product enhancement, the established conventions of language, art and cultural traditions lose their ability to inspire metaphysical truth. This debilitation of the symbol has played a significant role in undermining the ontological ground of Western culture. I would suggest that you start by examining the mass movements and protests led by Labor Unions throughout Chile and general everyday jobless individuals who may be young, older than young, middle aged or elderly - they may not be a student because it is far too expensive to be a student. Camila Vallejo is a woman of 24 yet has not had to work because her family is wealthy and she went to private schools. This luxury creates a rebel? No! They may not be students, however, the Labor Unions consist of younger working professionals in ages that range from 22 to 72.

But they are not revolutionary ideas. When one is fighting for certain values and integrity which must be upheld in any political and social reform. Camila Vallejo has spent a lot of time in front of the media camera, charging over $3,900 US dollars for interviews and very little time organizing and protesting in the streets. Camila Vallejo has expressed righteous indignation about exploitation, capitalism and privitization and then you have taken part in the very same exploition and capitalism she condemns. Who are you to speak about the rich getting richer when it is exactly you who have benefitted from living an upper class lifestyle. Who is paying for your education? Do you have jobs in the real world? The phrase, "I'm a rebel" used by Camila Vallejo is to market herself because she is not a "rebel." A "rebel" does not say one thing to the media public while doing and saying the opposite in private. Though, that is what politicians do.
She charges over $3,900 american dollars for a speaking engagement, yet publically exclaims to the media and condemns privatization and capitalism? Where are those funds going too? You say education has become a commodity, well, you have become a commodity. While you spend time on your computer thinking up ways to get yourselves media attention and marketing yourselves there are real people with real challenges who are on the streets fighting for reform. You do not speak for the majority of students as it was majority vote by students that got Ms. Vallejo elected, it was the neopitism of the ruling elite that got her elected. There are people in the streets protesting, many on 40 day hunger strikes who do not have jobs and they are not students and they are fighting for very basic rights. They are of all generations, ages and backgrounds. Why are you discounting everyone on the planet as participants in the global unrest except students? Your student movement is not only a student movement but is a movement of all cultural backgrounds, professions or lack thereof and of all ages. Perhaps you are getting caught up in your own hoopla. Perhaps you feel superior, separate, unusual, different or special because otherwise I cannot understand why you and certain other "student movement voices" continue to classify what is happening as a "student movement." Is it for marketing purposes? Is it for marketing only a "youth or student protest uprising movement?" Here is a reality check for you: the uprising has as its participants a widely diverse socioeconomic background of people from anywhere, everywhere and nowhere. To say otherwise is disrespectful, irresponsible and egregious. The following example can be applied to other countries but lets look at Chile for example: First of all, it is not only the students who have been working hard to organize demonstrations throughout Chile. There are large powerful Labor Unions that consist of many fine young professionals in their 20s who may not be students of a school but they are already established in their professions, some with families who have been working hard for constitutional reform in Chile. The people of Chile have for many years protested and fought for social, political and education reform and there have been large mass movement that far surpass the student protests of the past 3 months. The "torch" was not lit by the students. The current President of FECH in Chile has several times made the idiotic statement, It is always the youth who make the first movenow the older generations are joining us in this fight. The statement is blasphemous, disrespectful and incorrect. All of the people in Chile who have been protesting in mass demonstrations, including a protest strike November led by Labor Union ANEF of over 2 million people, are just joining now? False. While capitalism has been linked to the origin of consciousness, consumerism and advertising deceit have become potential threats to consciousness, so tell me, what exactly are you fighting for again? A raised consciousness of the revolution that you claim to have created? No.
