Westwood college applied for loans for me without knowing anything about me. They recruited me at a job faire for orphans and foster children. I was told under the state I was a foster child that I would be allowed free school (California). I was told that the school would apply the paper woork. All I needed was a GED. So I got one. Once I did that I contacted the man who recruited me and we exchanged conversations for days at a time until I was finally convinced that I was ready to attend. I sent some money and all the needed papers (GED, copy of my Social card and my a letter from my conservater allowing me to relocate back to California, social serurity payment schedule and a lease I printed.) They then sent me a package with enrollment and leasing information. During that time I was attending a semester of community college to get accustomed to the school process, due to never attending school beyond 4th grade. Once my semester's final finished I sent those transcripts to westwood with the package of very strange admissions paperwork. I was told that I would not be moving to California, but all funds and foster grants had been filed and excepted.instead I attended the school in Colorado. My conservator had not agreed to Colorado but was constantly reassured that all would be taken care of. The dorm was an apartment in some neighborhood. They claimed I would be able to move to the California campus as zoon as I completed some classes that the campus didn't offer. Red Flag! I started questioning the school about such things but never received any type of response. As school started I never understood any of the jargon in regards to transfers of credits. Some political changes happened and the talk of credits never transferring anywhere had a lot of students concerned. I continued to ask about California. No responses until I wanted an exit from the school, it was then that I came upon a barrage of complaints about myself causing dissection at the school. I was actually banned from the campus for asking questions concerning my future. Also I had never filled out a FASFA until I enrolled in the current community college I attend now. At westwood I had been informed that my aid wasn't available and to enter a payment plan. I am a ssi recipient so the payment was outside my monthly stipend. So i left. A few months later i started at front range college. I was walked through a painless process, compared to westwood's rush me in style. I only filled out an application for admission and a lease with their "dorm". When I was.introduced to the apex loan, i was told that it wasn't a loan, but that i was paying the school, based on my ssi earnings. I never saw any bills nor was told to pay when I was late. I would inquire about federal aid but was always told I was taken care of. That contradiction made me call a lawyer. He informed me to leave. I never had to fill out any exit paperwork. I've heard about some but never received any. I left told never to return and that my records would be sent to me. I finally was exempted into a college that is real but was told no westwood credit would transfer. I chose to start over at the place I attend now while receiving financial aid. As I was approaching my last year, after getting the remedial classes and in my last two semesters I learn that westwood was infact collecting money on me. Through sallied Mae. Im confused because my NSLDS shows 9 payments to them. Totalling 20,000 but the were collecting university loans in my name. I never applied for loans or FASFA until someone at my current college walked me through it. Now apparently I'm at my limit with my financial aid. That's not possible. I can still receive my Pell grant but no foster loans or subsidized loans. Something happened that I'm not aware of. I found out about a lawsuit about the actions of westwood and it has lead me to you.
