Over the last two years, I have been the hiring manager at our medical transcription service. We put our applicants through three basic tests.
I have had numerous applicants that graduated from At-Home Professions and not one has tested well, nor have we ever offered a single one of them a job. The quality of their work is very poor, their understanding of medical terminology lacking, and their typing speed barely marginal and below marginal.
Services that hire these graduates must have low standards for quality assurance. I have written to At-Home to try to work with them and tell them how they need to improve their education. After all, we desperately need good transcriptionists to hire. There is a shortage in workforce. We want to work with schools so we can get the cream of the crop. They ignored my letter and never contacted me.
I can only conclude that they really don't care, they are in it just for the money.
Anyone considering going to this school for medical transcription (I would assume the other fields are just as badly lacking but I have no experience there), please DO NOT waste your money. Our company and many others will NOT hire you if you can't pass our simple tests with high scores.
