They search out for those with bad or no credit, then take advantage of them since were easy targets. They hide charges that they incure without your knowledge. Once you start to fall behind, they not only call you 3 or more times a day every day, but they extend that harassment to neighbors, family and friends. They get rude on the phone, even if you're disabled, they use that as a knife to turn in your back to tick you off (read on if you want a for instance). If you do all by what the law says, they still do not ease off. I even put it in writing to stop harassment, and they ignored me.
My husband and I didn't have very good credit when we bought our new Ford. Needless to say we got stuck with Americredit financing, which we never heard of before. Not only did they get the highest interest they could slap us with, they hid alot of charges we didnt know about.
I have read other reports about them, and at least were not alone. I also have gone through the charges that make no sense. They dont tell you about them, you see them if your lucky enough to look through the papers.
My biggest complaint is that they not only make your life harder by squeezing every nickle and dime they can out of you, but harass you in the meantime. If you want harassment, go with Americredit.
For instance, they called my home 3 or more times a day after one day of being late on a payment. One day, I had a woman call my home at 8AM. She was rude to begin with. Once she got me on the phone I told her it would be a few days late, she asked me if I could "borrow" the money. I was trying to lighten the mood and said to her "Unless you want to lend it to me". Now I know they have history of the lendees and their work history which I am listed as disabled, and she had the gall to say to me "I work for a living to pay my bills ma'am" real cocky like. I told her to refer to my work history and that I am diabled, but not in so nice of words.
I was late a couple other times, they continued to call day after day. Each person I talked to had an attitude like the woman above. NEVER did I get a nice person. Even when I called them. Not only did they call me, they called my neighbors, some of whom I dont even know, to see if we were going to pay soon. How would they know if I dont know them? So far, they have called 6 neighbors, all family members of mine and my husbands, both in state and out, and all friends.
How does this company get all their names and numbers, and is this even legal for them to do? Harassment of people not in contract?
In conclusion, I would say don't ever go into contract with these people! Tell friends and family to be aware of these ripoff artists. Spread the word! Save people from this company.
Americredit is not worth the harassment and debt for anything.
