Colorado Prime Foods sells quality food for a monthly price. They require bulk purchases of 3 or 6 months worth of food, so they promote the sell of a freezer. When we placed our order for a six month supply of food we were told the cost of the freezer would only add $11.00 per month to our bill.
After the first food order was delivered, our salesman visited again and told us that we were now eligible to purchase their grill (during this time period, we had over $15,000 in credit card debt). He told us that, with the amount of food we had ordered and planned to order, the grill would add another $20 - $30 to our monthly bill. Colorado Prime Foods billed us on a monthly basis; the food, freezer and grill were combined in the bill. The cost was $140.00 per month.
Five months later, we had paid off all of our credit card debt; yet when we placed our 2nd food order we received a notice from a company we had never heard of that we did not have adequate credit to cover the purchase of food. We were advised that the $140.00 monthly bill now would only pay for the grill and the freezer and that we now owed over $7000.00 for these two items.
When I contacted Colorado Prime Foods about this I asked why I had once paid $140 for food, a grill & a freezer and now I had to pay the same amount but get no food. I was told that they had sold their accounts receivable to this other company 3 months earlier and the new company set their own credit limits. They had not notified any of their clients of this change.
So we now have a freezer and cadillac grill, just no great food -all at an 18% interest rate. Maybe I am wrong, but this feels like a scam to sell appliances...
