Bryan College
Bryan Career College, Inc For profit career training school

I went to the Bryan College campus in Topeka, Kansas. I fell for the school twice. Once when I was 23, I went for their Computer Network Specialist Diploma program from September until December and the Computer Information Systems - Networking AAS degree from December until February at age 25. This school airs on Fox 43 Topeka during the daytime when more people are stuck sitting at home watching TV, unemployed, underemployed, tired of where they are at in life, etc. The end result this time was: a lot of competition vying for every IT vacancy that's in town. This was according to the Director of Career Services. I know there are lots of competition, but there are still jobs out there, and at least get me a job at a computer store or something to start out in IT. Well, 14 months later, I still can't find employment even with a 2 year degree, A certification, a career diploma, lots of qualifications, and a three month old externship because I'm competing against people who have done paid internships/coops while attending Washburn University or KU, hold qualifications, certification (s), got or getting 4 year degrees very soon. I had three job interviews for IT positions, but, it seems the Hiring Managers always hire someone who has what they're looking for. I'm thinking Bryan College is a local for profit career college, that means, they care more about the money then students, their education, success, or still can't find employment. I have to put my Sallie Mae and DOE loans on economic hardship so I can enroll in a local 4 year university to start on my Bachelor's degree in August. I will be a Washburn University freshman at 27 years old.

While I'm a Washburn student, I'm calling attorneys in June to see if I got a lawsuit case to sue Bryan College for false advertisement and get my student loan money back for both programs so I can pay off Sallie Mae and Department of Education student loans. Their TV commercials make it sound so easy to get in the Healthcare, IT, or Business fields, but what I know about IT, those positions are heading overseas, or if they aren't heading overseas, they are starting to require Bachelor's degrees, sometimes Master's, certification (s), qualifications, and experience. When the person graduates from Bryan College, they are in student loan debt for tens of thousands of dollars they are unable to pay back without some kind of employment, interviewers will laugh at you affer you walked the door, and Career Services won't help you find entry level employment. They will tell you just to keep on trying, applying, praying, etc., but you can do all of them until you turn blue in the face, if you are getting nowhere, it starts getting depressing. She even had the nerve to tell me people with Bachelor's degrees are having a very hard time finding employment right now, but I'm not listening to that, because a teacher I had with a BA degree in CIS from Washburn got an IT job with a local bank, and when I graduate in May there should be more jobs out there that's going to require Bachelor's degrees, people will start retiring, and the job market should be doing a lot better than it is today.

I have Aspergers Syndrome, my IQ is 140, and they had the nerve to make fun of my speech disability because I can't pronounce the word, computer, right. All Aspergers have some kind of speech problem but they are very bright individuals. They are suppose to support and help me find an IT job somewhere in the Topeka area, not make fun of someone and make them feel worthless. Washburn isn't like Bryan College at all. I talked to someone in Morgan Hall on Washburn campus about setting up an appointment with a career counselor after I enrolled there last month, and I got an appointment tomorrow morning. It will be with a real Career Counselor who want to see me succeed at Washburn, not a sales person functioning as a Career Counselor who want to take my money. I know in four years, I won't have a problem finding employment because I will have that 4 year degree, paid internships, a good GPA, qualifications, etc.

Never again.
