Here is the truth. Teri and Laura Allerton who have been writing about Mr. Hong are wife and friend of Scott Bolen. He has been trying to hurt Mr. Hong for a long time for taking away his black belt. His lies have caused as much harm as to force him to file a law suit against him. Which he won. Case number 02-3959-cz-T. Judge Lynda A. Tolen saw through Scott and awarded Mr. Hong over fifty thousand dollars in dammages. This is a matter of public record in Niles MI 5th district court.
The tragedy about this is that if you go inside the door you can see all the awards he has been presented and none of them are fake. Looking at his wall you can see the ARMY achievement metals, Honors, Certificates and Awards you can see that they are not fake. Next to each of them is a picture of him with the presidents of each organization. They say pictures speak louder than words. ANYONE is welcome to come to HONG'S USA TAEKWONDO and see for themselves the pictures and certificates. I find it amusing that there are NO pictures of "Master" Bolen on his website only canned pictures of Jet Li and Erny Reyes Jr..
I inquired about the cost of a black belt test being $450 and was shown how only $150 is for Hong's Taekwondo. The rest is for registration with Hukryong Taekwondo Federation, Korean Taekwondo Assoc., and Universal Taekwondo Union each which is a one hundred dollar fee. This is why a black belt from Hong's USA Taekwondo means something.
He is real upset about these lies and is willing to show all who asks checkstubs and letters from Notre Dame and Southwestern Michigan College. Also signed letters from the Olympic Committee proving that he coached olympic athletes. Feel free to ask Olympian Kaye Poe's teacher about Master Hong. He has worked hard to earn his World Taekwondo Federation, Kukkiwon, and Jidokwan Certificate and has documentation to prove it along with the presentent's signature Sung Wan Lee (president of Taekwondo Jidokwan Korea) and Dr. Un Yong Kim (President of Kukkiwon WTF). Not to mention his PhD. You are welcome to call these organizations and check it out for yourself. Call Hong's USA Taekwondo and you will be given the phone numbers to call.
I can't see how Scott Bolen and Laura Allerton's remarks can be given any weight when neither of them have a legitimate black belt from any school.
I would encourage any prospective student to have "Master" Bolen produce legitate certificates from the WTF, Kukkiwon, and Jidokwan organizations prior to joining. According to WTF and Jidokwan international regulations you MUST be at least a fourth degree black belt to be an INSTRUCTOR and a sixth degree black belt to be considered a MASTER. I won't even elaborate on his claims of being certified in hapkido by International Hapkido Assoc., gumdo (kumdo) by Haidong Gumdo Federation, hwarangdo, dahnhak. There is no record of his membership to any of these organizations. I would ask that he prove it by providing the presidents names, address' and phone numbers so that it confirmed by calling South Korea. If this can not be provided I would suspect a "rip off".
Recent inspection of a "color belt" certificate from his "school" has been supposedly signed by Grandmaster Cho Sup Lee Guryon Mudo but the signature is not even a Korean language. There is no record of this person being a Grandmaster. It is unbelievable to me how someone who was a purple belt when he left Hong's school became in only three months a first degree black belt. That is jumping six belt levels in three months.in another instance a deputy black belt (the level prior to first degree black belt) was awarded a SECOND degree black belt in less than three months.
