Allen Lambert LPC, LMSW CMHC
Allen Lambert LPC, LMSW At CMHC Duplicity, harassment, and unprofessionalism CMHC University of Texas (late 2007)

This complaint is to inform and to activate my 1st amendment rights of freedom of opinion, fact, and judgment. There is information at the end of the complaint that provides civil rights information to others that may be suffering abuse or discrimination that needs justice. This occurred in the CMHC located at University of Texas Student Services Building in Austin, Texas at the tail end of 2007.

Allen Lambert LPC and LMSW claims to (specialize in Men's issues) he arrived about 15 minutes late to my scheduled session. I noticed the other counselors had already greeted their clients on time in a friendly and cordial fashion. Something seemed extremely suspicious and wrong when Allen Lambert finally arrived. As a minority, a client, and a student I felt harassed and discriminated against by Allen Lambert. He had no apologies and no explications.

During the time of his arrival he did not introduce himself and he exclaimed rudely to me You look startled and You're startled as he made rude and offensive hand pushing hand gestures to signal me away. When I tried to explain that wasn't the case he kept insisting rudely and angrily that I was startled and felt startled.

During the session he rudely interrogated me to know if I did drugs and used other invasive questioning and interrogating methods that had nothing to do with the concerns I came to see him for nor did his behaviors have anything to do with the profession of counseling. The barrage of off-topic questions made me feel offended, and suspicious of his motives.

I came to see him for social anxiety, discrimination, and men's issues. I've never done a drug in my life therefore I was bewildered by his demanding and forceful off-topic questions. As I articulated myself I noticed how he seemed agitated, impaired, distracted, and disinterested. His flippant, curt, and sarcastic comments exacerbated and aggravated my anxiety during the session. It also deeply damaged my psyche and created long lasting harm.

I perceived that he was doing the behaviors to intentionally annoy and harass me. It seemed as if he was trying to provoke a fight. He also kept insisting and blurting out that I looked startled instead of focusing on my comments of concern. I'm not sure I was startled but more traumatized and deeply offended. He asked what I wanted out of the session and I said understanding and advice.

Then after 20 minutes of off-topic interrogation in which I'm pretty sure my rights and privacy were violated, he then refused me services in the middle of the session, shook his head and said in a cutting and contemptuous tone that he had no understanding for me, and he told me to go away and pay fees to see a counselor that he knew that was located way on the other side of town. His suggestion was very inconvenient and unhelpful for me.

He violated my rights, as a student I had the right to competent and non-damaging counseling services at CMHC. He deprived me of those rights and privileges. He also refused a two way fair discussion during my session. He also insisted and persisted that I do group counseling when I never once requested group counseling. I requested individual counseling only. He kept coercing me to do group counseling even when I said I was not interested in that.

Also I would not want to be stuck in a group counseling session with somebody like him. He did not provide rationales, explications, diagnosis, or an opportunity for a two way fair discussion as to his decision, opinions, or treatment plan; nor was he concerned about any of my thoughts, feelings, or ideas. He did not offer advice or suggestions to alleviate my prevalent anxiety right then and there. He refused to discuss discrimination issues, legitimate anxiety treatment, and angrily changed the subject to off topic questions that focused on areas that violated my privacy and rights.

During the session he refused to use any counseling methods, models, activities, or techniques such as unconditional positive regard, empathic reflections, active listening, encouragement, role-play, structure based on a psychological theory (no indication of client centered, cognitive, behavioral, Adlerian, Freudian, reality, object relations, or brief therapy, etc.).

He did not use the commonly used cognitive therapy technique to examine thoughts that could be causing distress, depression, and anxiety. Cognitive therapy techniques are almost always collaborative and objective. Techniques and interpretations are never forced upon the client. Cognitive therapy does not challenge the person instead cognitive therapy techniques challenge a particular thought that could be causing distress, anxiety, or pain.

The goal of therapy is to diffuse negative emotions such as anxiety, stress, anger, or pain throughout a session. Therapists are also to measure mood and check in on mood improvements during the session to assess for reliability and validity of treatment. Anxiety and depression is also measured by Beck Anxiety Inventory and Beck Depression Inventory which he did not utilize. He did not provide counseling services of any type to me at any point during the 45 minutes of distress and pain that he intentionally caused.

If he thought there was a problem he didn't say so or use any behavioral techniques such as collaborative goal setting, step by step collaborative help, immediacy, instruction, a system of positive reinforcement, or any plan to ensure a quality therapy session. Throughout the session he demanded to know what I was feeling and I said nervous but he kept badgering me about what my feeling was throughout the session without any regard to me saying I felt nervous.

He had the inability to validate feelings and thoughts. That is extremely unprofessional and reflects poorly on his character. He also kept trying to blame me for discrimination by saying I'm speculating you don't get along with people. That was very inaccurate, very insensitive, and hurtful. Discrimination and phobias against minorities is reality, and professional mental health workers do not blame the victim like Allen Lambert did to me.

He also kept questioning me and harassing me in regards to if I reminded him of anybody. If he was trying to badger me in regards to transference, he was wrong because the client has to be reminded of a parent or caregiver during the session if there is transference occurring. That did not happen for me. Transference doesn't reflect poorly on the client either, it is not to be shamed as Allen Lambert was trying to do with me, transference is a psychological process that is empathically processed with a competent, prepared, and emotionally intelligent counselor.

Allen Lambert's abusive tone of voice, sadistic mind games, and withholding of duties reflects more on his Machiavellian, bigoted, unethical, opportunistic, exploitative, and pathological personality. I also believe that his unethical and possibly illegal behaviors reflect very poorly on his supervisors and The University of Texas.

Students that potentially fall under the American Disabilities Act are to be accommodated not harassed, abused, and discriminated against like I was. His badgering and harassing questions and lack of empathy and sensitivity exacerbated and intensified my anxiety by a lot and caused intense frustration, pain, and damage.

During some parts of the session he blatantly pretended to be deaf to what I had to say, this was in particular to discussion on minority sensitivity, personal concerns, and discrimination issues. He often shook his head, scowled, sweated profusely, and looked agitated throughout my session. I found his behaviors to be extremely shifty, suspicious, unprofessional, two faced, and very rude.

When I left the session I felt so nervous that I was shaking, dizzy, and nauseated. I wasn't treated with dignity and respect at all or helped in any form as his website advertises. That is false advertising and bait and switch advertising.

I believe one of his supervisors, most likely Keith Arrington, Marla Craig, Dr. Lilly, and or Dr. Hill at The University of Texas instructed him to abuse me during the session. His behavior seemed too calculated and intentional. This I believe was done to cover up discrimination that I had previously been complaining about.

They wanted to exploit me and cause me harm and that's what they did. It has had very long lasting damages. If these problems occur to you or you know about it happening to another student or person be aware that you can file lawsuits, inform civil rights litigators that have no conflict of interest with the University of Texas, you can also provide information to the news media and civil rights groups to expose the shifty behaviors and bigoted beliefs at the CMHC or University of Texas at Austin.

Other groups or people that can help are Texas Civil Rights Project, ACLU LGBT Project, Human Rights Campaign, the local newspaper, television news teams, other journalists such as John Stossel, usacomplaints.com, and licensing boards. It's imperative you inform your story of discrimination, abuse, civil rights violations, or other problems to individuals, groups, and news media teams that have no conflict of interest with The University of Texas.

Be cautious with The Office for Civil Rights Department of Education, they seem to have a conflict of interest with the University of Texas and are rather unhelpful and defensive and so is The Dean of Student's Office. If the DOS provides you with immediate assistance and support then great, if not discontinue with them, for they were irresponsible, bigoted, and biased in my experiences.

Remember just because you are a minority leader, or a civil rights attorney doesn't mean you are ethical and sincere, sometimes those people are duplicitous, shifty, and have a conflict of interest that doesn't involve helping you as a harmed citizen that needs justice and help. You must use discernment with everybody even with other minorities. Bigotry, internalized oppression, and internalized homophobia occur often, causing the destruction of our diverse society.
