My child passed kindergarten, but the teacher noted he struggled. We had the option to send him to 1st grade or hold him back. We sent him on to 1st grade. He was not failing, just struggling so much to keep up, so we looked into Learning RX.
We had him tested through Learning RX and were told he could be in the program, but if he would have scored a little less in one category there would not have been anything they could do for him. We were assured that they would be able to help with a 12 week program, 2 times a week for 1 1/2 hrs each session and homework almost every night, testing half way through to make sure everything is progressing for a fee of $3995.
We enrolled him and started the program. We were not seeing any improvements so we questioned this. We were told that we wouldn't see much results until the middle of the program. The middle of the program came, yet no results. We were then told it will happen almost overnight, something would just click.
By the end of the 12 weeks my child was in tears, sick to his stomach, horrible headaches everytime it came to going to Learning RX or having to do the homework for Learning RX.
Then came the notice they were changing his teacher. They felt this other teacher would be better suited for him. The new teacher informed us that an 1 1/2 hour session is too much for a 6 year old, we need to do sessions 3 times a week without as much homework. It's to bad my son went through hell and they finally noticed this. We did not go very long after this. My child was to stressed and a therapist recommended against him continuing.
When asked for a refund they refused. They came up with numerous lies and excuses, trying to place the blame all on us.
*They said we missed several sessions.
This is true, but it was due to the teacher canceling on us and them being closed on holidays.
*They offered us an extension, but we refused.
This is also true, Why would I put my son through more of this when we completed the amount of time we were told it would take and it is not helping him at all?
*We didn't finish the program, we never had him tested.
They were supposed to test him at the middle of the program and tailor the rest of the 6 weeks to his needs, which THEY did not do.
This company gave us false hopes and promises, took our money, stressed our child and admitted they scheduled him to long and because of that he was not retaining what they were teaching. My child didn't have 4 months to waste on this program, school years are only 9 months. My childs teacher very strongly suggests that he not continue to second grade because his reading is the level of a beginning 1st grader and he will just get lost if we do not hold him back. He was at the same level of reading when he went into 1st grade as he is after their program. Do not fall for their lies, stress your child for no reason and give them your hard earned money!!!
