Ripoff - Fraudulent Business Practices consumer fraud ripoff Unknown

I recently received my credit card statement, and was puzzled as to a certain charge that was listed.

It was from MWI*Galleria USA in the amount of $139.95. I promptly called the 800# that was listed on the charge card entry. When I inquired as to what type of company they were, the lady said something about shopping services. She also said that they advertise on the t.V. And the radio.

I told her that neither my husband or I ordered any of their shopping services, and wanted the charge credited to my account. She stated that my account would be credited, but would take a month or two.

I also called my credit card holder and asked what I should do. They will be sending me a dispute form to fill out and return, since this is a credit card that I pay off each month, and I do not want to incur any finance charges for this charge that I won't be paying.

My husband and I have been trying to figure out where these charges may have come from. The only thing that I can think of is that I did something that I never do. I called an 800# from an info-mercial on t.V., and ordered a Turbo Cooker. Unfortunately, the item was sent back as soon as I received it because of a lot of reasons. I'm going to tell you why, because I think it plays into why I may have been charged from Galleria.

When I was on the phone ordering the Turbo Cooker, the young lady that I was speaking to said that they had a special in which I could purchase additional Turbo Cookers for $20 (the first Turbo Cooker was $60). My cousin was with me, and I even asked her if she had wanted one for $20. Anyway, I ordered an additional Turbo Cooker, so now I'm at about $80. The young lady asked if I wanted to purchase additional recipe cards for another $30. I declined.

She also was "pitching" other things as well. After talking with a representative from my credit card holder and then my husband, I seem to recall the lady from Turbo Cooker trying to sell me a "trial membership" to some sort of savings thing or another. Of course, I decline that as well. I think that might have been this MWI Galleria.

They got a lot of things wrong when I received my Turbo Cooker, so I wouldn't doubt if they "accidentally" charged me for this trial membership to a shopping services company as well (MWI Galleria). When I received the Turbo Cooker, the total charge to my card was $176.

They charged me $40 for the extra cooker instead of $20, and also sent me the extra recipe cards for an additional $30 charge, and slammed me with a $46 shipping and handling charge. When I called the company, the man told me they never sold the extra cookers for $20, but sold them for $20 off the regular price. I can tell you that I didn't misunderstand. Needless to say, I did receive credit for the Turbo Cookers, etc, but unfortunately not the shipping and handling charges.

I almost forgot about the "pitches" that the young lady at Turbo Cooker was trying to sell me, but I have no doubt that is how the charge was originated.
