I have attended school "successfully" at Kaplan University, only to find that NO school in my area is willing to accept my degree or minimal credits (3.85). The school told me that they are NOT responsible, but yet I told them my plans when I enrolled and when you call they say their degrees are excepted everywhere.
Everywhere I apply, the schools want a h/s transcript - as if I NEVER attended college. I requested a full refund - no avail. I have also received another bill for Kaplan for over twelve thousand dollars - although they were PIF by the VA and also took money from student loans (double dipped)!!! Now I lost all my VA funding, am out of 40 thousand dollars, no degree, and my student loans are coming out of deferment. The school just does not care and their practices and procedures are deceptive and they are defrauding the gov't out of money.
Is this how we treat our vets? Additionally, the VA even went as far as asking Kaplan for a list of schools that will accept my degree - they sent me a list of MANY schools - I think 12... NONE of which are within distance of my area. If they knew that my degree was NOT accepted in my area - why take my money? I wasted a lot of time and money! I am devastated. All Kaplan keeps telling me is you have one class left - come back.
Also, they blocked me from class - for no reason (as I aware other students that they may have the same problem)... And never credited my account - so I could not have finished there - if I wanted too... Either way, the degree is "worthless." Type in Kaplan University in Google, and you will see I am not the only one! Kaplan needs an audit and also needs to stop playing with people's emotions.
I would have been the FIRST sibling in my family to graduate college... Now what... I am just at a loss? I beg to differ. I am requesting a full refund and will prosecute to the fullest extent of the law - by any means to get it - to include emotional distress, mental anguish... As this stress does have a negative impact on my existing medical condition.
Your Desired Resolution:
All of my money to include tuition, books (I can return them), fees, and allowance to reinstate the VA's program (money it cost the VA to send me to school) to be promptly refunded. Additionally, I am requesting a letter of apology for their negligence. I have documents to support my allegations and will be filing a police report with "state police!"

According to article in today's Chronicle of Higher Education, three former academic officers filed a lawsuit against Kaplan University defrauded the U.S. Government of some $4 billion.
Yes... Billion.
The suit claims Kaplan "enrolled unqualifed students, inflated their grades so they could stay enrolled, and falsified documents to obtain accreditation for certain academic programs." Kaplan is also accused of "paying its own employees to enroll in classes so it could meet the requirement that at least 10 percent of its revenue come from sources other than federal loans and grants." Kaplan offcials have vehemently denied all accusations.
This is the second lawsuit against a university for such practices, with University of Phoenix having a pending lawsuit of its own. If any of the accusations brought against Kaplan or Phoenix hold water, this will leave a huge black eye on for-profit institutions. It will also effect online learning and student recruitment. Further still, all the woes surrounding student loans will be compounded by this extra layer of controversy. Kaplan and University of Phoenix are both heavyweights in the acadmic arena, with expansive networks both on the ground and on the Web. It makes little sense for them to engage in such practices.

I have PROOF to back up all of my allegations. It is the most terrible feeling in the world... It hurts so bad!!! I am aware that no school accepts all credits... But "no" school in this area will accept "any!"
I wish I could scan and attach some documents... Schools like John Jay College, Rutgers, and many more... Unreal!
