Complaint / Review
University Of Phoenix, Corporate Collections Center, Axia College
Harassment

I have had the most unpleasant, unprofessional experience in dealing with University of Phoenix and University of Phoenix's Corporate Collection Center.

I visited the school back in September to obtain information about the Masters of Business program. I was helped by a student representative. She had me immediately fill out an application even though I told her I would not be wanting to attend Phoenix University until August. She told me not to worry about the application fee because it was so early on in the process, that she would most likely be able to get it waved and would give me a call. I never heard back from this representative and within two to three weeks I had decided that I did not wish to further my education and called the University to have the application dropped and the file closed. I was told it had been taken care of and that if I changed my mind they could reopen the file.

I continued receiving bill after bill for the amount of $45. I called University of Phoenix's Savannah, GA campus and wrote letters trying to get this bill stopped. The only response I received was two letters back to back from the Corporate Collections Center saying my accound was past due for the amount of $45 and that if I disagreed with the status or amount, to please contact the office within the next 15 days.

In my attempt to have this matter resolved I called the number listed on the letters, since there were no other instructions to "write a letter". I was treated disrespectfully, yelled at, cussed at, I was told I had an attitude, told that the Corporate Collection Center was not customer service and they could speak to me how ever they pleased. This same situation happened with two of Corporate Collections representatives, Kristen and Robert. They both told me that they would not give me last names or any other form to identify them. After speaking with kristen, I went on the notion that maybe she was having a bad day. However after this happening twice, within a 30 minute time frame, I am going to assume that Corporate Collections trains their employees to treat customers, yes customers with vulgar, immature, and inappropriate behavior.

After speaking with the representatives. I contacted one of the managers to report what had happened and find out how to get this stopped. He informed me that he could take care of it and that all I needed to do was send a letter to a certain address. I sent the letter like they asked and have since then received the same collection letters over and over again! Over $45! They must have atleast sent $20 worth of postage on letters and bills by now. Does anyone have any advice?

I feel kind of silly reporting something as little as $45 when so many of you have been scammed for thousands of dollars by University of Phoenix. But what they are doing is unjust and they are putting my credit on the line.
