My husband went to the bank to cash his paycheck when he was told that our account had NSF's. When he got home he was in shock. He's usually pretty good at keeping our checking in line.
I called the automated line at our bank to see what had happened. I found a check card transaction in the amount of $119.95. Neither of us new where it had come from so I called to speak with a bank rep.
She gave the name and number of a company called MWI Essentials (Member Works Incorporated). A company neither my husband nor myself have ever heard of!
I called this company to see how exactly they came into contact with my account. I was hung up on two times when I asked to speak with a supervisor, and by the third call I was a little more than ticked. The last woman I spoke with said that they would refund my $119.95 and cancel my membership.
I explained for the tenth time that there was nenver a membership under our name. I then told her I would like to speak with her supervisor once again.
Finally we were put on with a supervisor. This lady told my husband that he had ordered a product called Power Paste on an infomercial two years prior. Again we had never oredered this product or any other. She then said that when we "ordered" this product we agreed to a membership with MWI.
Again, never happened!
We just learned of this three days ago. Their company agreed to pay back the $119.95 but refused to pay our NSF fees for the checks that bounced as a dirrect result of this.
Tomorrow morning I have to be at the bank to file a fraud claim and cancel my accounts. We were told that our information was probably sold to these people, so if they have it who else has it too? I'm also having them do a transaction history to see exactly how many times they've done this to us and we may have missed it.
My husband and I are a young couple with two small boy's and another baby on the way. We live paycheck to paycheck and there are many of us out there who do. I only hope these monsters who are stealing from the mouths of my children will be stopped!
