I also have experienced the bend over that Cross Country guarantees to it's "customers" that it promises to "help" build or rebuild their credit.
They do all they can to rip off and treat with contempt the credit rebuilder, and in whatever means they can get away with. I refused to pay them all the additional fees etc. That they added, incorrectly, to my account, which allowed them to snowball my "balance due" to a level way beyond even the credit limit they gave me by tacking on late and overlimit fees. I was harassed both at work and at home, consistently.
I called many times trying to rectify the error THEY made, but to no avail prior to refusing to pay another cent.
I wrote a lengthly letter of complaint and mailed to every congressman, government organization, finance institution (including VISA International - who was totally useless, and would not even take any responsiblity for their name associated with Cross Country at all!), and credit authority I could get an address on.
I spent many hours and many $ doing this. Not one government office or congressman could (or would) help me with this.
They all told me to direct my complaint to the attorney generals office, which I had already done, or said it was not within their jurisdication to deal with.
Basically, the government could care less if the average consumer is getting ripped off royally by the corporate monsters.
If it doesn't directly affect them, then their heads are buried in the sand. To make this long story short, I ended up taking the credit hit on my report, as a charge off posted on my account by Cross Country, as that was all they had left to do to try to hurt me! (because I still refused to send them another cent, nor pay any of their ridiculous fees) They can kiss my royal red &
I was new at getting credit, after many years of living only on cash, and was not aware that these credit companies operated in this manner. It's a shame, because the reality is, we don't have just the fear of foreign terrorists to contend with, we have the corporate credit card scam artist terrorists as well, here in our own "free" country.
The government won't take this issue seriously until someone goes postal or something!
Anyone of you that works for this organization should be ashamed of yourselves for allowing yourself to be associated with them, and their vicious inhumane tactics. What goes around comes around, think about that on your bad days!!!
From what I understand, their have been class action suits started against Cross Country, but I don't believe any have been successful. If you know of any that have, please post that information here for all other victims of the CCB scams.
Get out and away from Cross Country as soon as you can. Even if your experience has been positive thus far, it won't stay that way! Get out while you can, before they have you bent over like the rest of their "customers"!
