This school has been in our community for 50 years. It's in desperate need of a new Administration. We supported this school until we began to see how children were being treated and all the new "odd" behaviors we began to see at home were due to the incredible stress they were under by their so-called teacher at this school as well as the other staff.
When we began to request meetings and follow their "Matthew 18 Principal" of problem solving — espoused by so many Chrisitian private schools these days — they began to shut us down, ignore us, be rude and condescending and then told us to basically pound sand for next year. Gee, that's really Christian, isn't it? Then they used that great schools dot net site to retaliate against the parents that are paying their dang salaries! It's unbelieveable. Go check it out. I do not stretch the truth.
What we began to inquire about was not only 20 and 30-mins long heads-down timeouts, whistles being blown in class sometimes one foot away from a child's ears and also why they didn't give the kids enough PE according to CA Dept of Ed requirements — that ALL private schools in CA are supposed to adhere to.
That's right... A private school doesn't have to have credentialed teachers, heck, they the teachers don't even have to have a college degree, but they have to adhere to CA State Dept of Ed standards. Only most parents don't know that.
So not only did this school NOT deliver what is promised to any kid going to school in CA, but then the teacher (who is really the acting principal as the old principal left amid allegations of misconduct) was always blaming the kids when she had zero control in the classroom. The class would be noisy for upwards of 20 minutes with no teaching going on. Where's the teacher? Well, according to the kids we spoke to, she sat at her desk in the back doing "paperwork" during these periods.
This school is hopeless under it's current management of two pastors, one woman and this teacher. It's hopeless. Don't waste your money unless you're an abusive parent and WANT your child — particularly boys and then particularly Hispanic boys — to be put down, degraded verbally, and then be lied to about how it's all your kid's fault.
This school needs an overhaul bigtime. No one from the school management all the way to their religious "oversight" body in Azusa has been willing to hear any of us parents. They just ignore us and try to make us go away. It is, by far, the saddest experience we've ever had with any kind of childcare/school business ever and I've seen a lot of them. This one takes the cake for the worst around.
This school is the perfect examply of why young people, particularly young men, would turn away from God and organized religion. This school's Admin is very arrogant and self-righteous; so much so that they cannot even see that their main teacher is belittling children. She says children's unquestionable obedience is mandatory as it's required by Christian doctrines of education — yet this woman has no teaching credential! Go figure and, by all means, go put your money elsewhere!
Your kid will definitely get screwed up in the head if they spend too much time here.
