I signed up for CIE's Electronics Technician program, only to have to go underway shortly after completing my first set of books. I sent the second books back with a letter requesting to drop the program. Since I was paid up to the 10% of the 3200.00 tuition required for completing as much as I did, I didn't think anything was amiss when I didn't hear from them for over 3 years. All of sudden, I have a mark on my credit report for over 4300.00. The collections company said I owed the tuition in full, plus interest. I told them to research it again and get back to me, that my contract that I had in my hand said that I was not responsible for any of the money they were trying to collect. Two years later, I received more phone calls concerning the "debt". I told the new collection agency that I refused to pay for something I didn't complete, and that they would have to discuss this with the school. Meanwhile, I called the school, talked with the registrar's office and was told they would call me back. I'm still waiting for that phone call. After about a year of a monthly phone call from the collection agency, I haven't heard anything for about 6 months. I'm sure I'll hear about it again in a couple of years and we'll start this whole process over again.
