Now that I am 1/2 way finished with my Bachelors degree in Nursing, I have been told by University of Phoenix that I no longer have any funds left in my account & must pay remaining courses with my own money. This is a complete lie! A few months ago I received an award letter showing amounts that I would receive from both Cal Grant & Fed Pell Grant. I even went to the Cal Grant website and it showed that I still have $6000 in award money. According to University of Phoenix, they have no idea what happened to my money as "they receive a lump sump from these sources and distribute money as they see fit." My guess is that they do this to many students - 1/2 way thru their program, they come up with a lame excuse as to why they no loner can receive Grants or even qualify for loans. I'm willing to bet they bank these funds elsewhere for their own finanical gain and I am appalled that both Cal Grant & Federal Pell allow this to continue. This is unfair and unjust! At this point no one is returning my phone calls. If anyone else is experiencing something similar to my situation, I implore you to also file a report and continue to contact UOP. I think we need to file a class action suit!
