ITT Tech
Education for your Soul

Hopes, Dreams and Promises. Thats what I had when I first got accepted into the Computer Networking systems 2 year associates degree program at ITT Tech. ITT Tech made it clear before I joined that they wanted nothing more then to see me succeed and graduate with hopes of a brighter future. A dream short lived with my first 3 quarters at ITT Tech.

In late 2004 before I graduated from high school I was already planning to attend ITT Tech in the summer of 2005. I was contacted a couple months before graduating by my former recruiter of ITT who is to be remained nameless. He told me that ITT tech was ripoff and I should rethink my education, it was just a big scam out to take peoples money and give you less of an education. I should have stopped right there and listened. I ended attending ITT in the summer of 2006 in order to get my finances straightened out.

After three quarters at ITT Tech I was ready to call it quits because for the money I was expected to shovel over, I didn't feel like I was getting out what I put in.instructors were often late class, not up to date with curriculum, confrontational and unwilling to help you.instructors made you feel like you were a waste of time and instead of helping you they'd refer you to a tutor.

The only downside to tutors were most of them had different methods of teaching a subject and its not the correct way of learning the material. If you have a full time job then you could forget about getting extra help. ITT Tech was also unwilling to work with people who had jobs and fit your class's in around your schedule. But wait this is the total opposite of what ITT tech promised isn't it?

My campus that I attended was filthy, garbage and pop bottles often cluttered my learning enviorment. Computers were damaged, stolen or missing parts. Which makes you wonder where all the money your paying is going? Text-books were lousy and if you were lucky enough to have one or you'd often have to wait weeks or so just to get one, and by then you were so far behind. ITT tech would send you a draft schedule between quarters, so when you return back to class to get your final copy of your schedule you find out that you already missed one or two of your classes and are behind. Then ITT Tech has the audacity to send you an attendance reminder.

If you ever want to talk to any of the staff such as Career services, Financial Aid, Administrators... Good luck. Most of them were unavailable to talk to and since ITT has a such a high turn over rate you'd never know who to talk to or where to find them.

My relationship with the staff wasn't that great either. I had one instructor for programming who on the day of exams came in under the influence. Then my instructor for Math read my grades allowed in front of the class and insulted me. Before I withdrew I spoke with the Dean and my recruiter and we discussed the problem I was having and that I was not happy there. They failed to assist me but helped me decide that ITT Tech was not for me.

In the end Sallie Mae though it would be funny to charge me for three quarters of unhappy attendance and an unsatisfactory education. I was looking at around $26k of debt not including accrued interest. On a side note my sibling got a four year degree for alot cheaper and a better education. I've sent letters to ITT tech, Sallie Mae, Ombudsman and Better Business Bureau expressing how I felt about the situation. I'm going to fight this the best way I can. Overall I've learned nothing at ITT Tech except for the fact that I was taken advantage of as a student and customer.
