We had signed my wife up for a career diploma program with Ashworth this morning. After noting they were formerly PCDI, I searched around for some reports on them and found a good number of mixed feelings here on consumer complaintss.in order to play it safe, I decided we'd cancel for now while we did a bit of investigation.
From the reports and comments made by others I was expecting them to fight for her continued enrolment, and they may have had we given our real reasons, I simply told them we had some concerns about our finances and time (aka we don't want to waste time and money) and a minute later her enrolment was cancelled. I was very pleased with the service.
Our next step revolved around reports of poor staff with no knowledge of the subject. We found Ashworth's list of staff and found the person listed as the specialist for her program of study. The mini-biography for the specialist noted a professional association and I was able to quickly verify that information. Through the professional association I discovered she is an instructor for another college in the area and I decided to contact her via that information. We have asked if she can verify the worth or Ashworth's program and clarify the value it will have to my wife's career.
At the moment we are content that they do indeed have professional staff who are in good standing in their field. We are also content that they are not operating, in our experience, like a diploma mill, there was no pressure to enrol, there was no pressure to stay, and, so far, there seems to be no attempt to cover information over regarding their accreditation, teach staff or methodology. We're going to stay cautiously optimistic for now.
