Just as in the previous report, I was approached on the street by an Italian car driver. Thinking he was going to ask for directions, I stopped to talk to him. He claimed he "Had been at a fashion show in Birmingham and didn't want to take stock back with him as he would have to pay a re-import tax".
Suspecting a con, I at first tried to walk away from him, but he persisted in telling me that he was on his way back to the airport, showing me, just like the previous complainant, an air ticket to Milan for Friday 14th Dec, also an EU ID card. He showed me what appeared to be a very nice jacket "worth 320".
Still saying "NO" and trying to walk away, he kept on pulling me back to his car, a rented Renault Scenic, and started loading jackets into a bag. I kept on saying no and trying to edge away When he had seven in the bag, he asked me simply to fill his petrol tank for him! They did look quite nice!
Knowing that even an empty Scenic petrol tank couldn't hold all that much, I agreed and we went to a petrol station, where I put 55.00 worth of fuel in his tank. The only thing I would say in his favour is that he did not say they were Armani or indeed any brand name.
Anyone want to buy seven decent loooking jackets?
